SupaJ Wrote:I also forgot to mention one other thing. Version 3.7.7 NextPvr does not pick up my clear QAM channels when I scan. The channels appear in the scan log(npvr.log) but not in the list in the program.
This patch should fix it: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post505630

Thanks - can you try a scan in 3.7.7 with that patch installed, and post the npvr.log?

You are correct about it messing up some televisions. Most of the TVs I know will pick up the clear QAM channels but with no audio. Fortunately, I bought a smart(Roku) TCL TV recently and it picks up everything with audio. Do you know why Clear QAM h264/AAC is a bad combination for most TVs?

Thanks. That format isn't part of the traditional US/Canadian ATSC/QAM signal and typically h264/aac output is usually done by the STB. In the the digital age I have only since ac3 (Dolby Digital) audio output to our TV and most AVR's too. I don't know how the rest of world TVs do handle the 2:1 and 5:1 audio from AAC.

SupaJ - give this patch a go. You should now be able to go into the settings->channels screen, double click one of these channels, click 'edit digital tuning' and set the service type to 'H.264 with LC-AAC'. After that the audio should work in live tv.

Yes Sub. I now have audio on these HD channels when I set te service type to 'H.264 with LC-AAC'. The bad news is that since installing the patch to enable scanning, I have lost audio on almost all SD channels using the MPEG2 codec. My decoder is the Microsoft DTV. Not sure what is going on.

@mvallevand: Very interesting your comment. I would definitely want to look that up with my provider to see if they 'fix' this standard. Almost all our televisions are from the US, so I see no reason why we shouldn't stick to the US standard. I'd really like to know a little more about this standard. Can I PM you.

I am not saying it is not standard ATSC A/72 allows for it but my gut feeling is most TV's just support ATSC 1.0 which is a lower standard A/53. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATSC_standards Personally with Roku like devices you are better off with h264/avc streams for recodring. Besides Flow may not even know they are using clear QAM and you sure don't want them to have them shut it off.

That change wouldn't have made any difference to audio on other channels. It'd only make a difference on channels you'd explicitly set to 'H.264 with LC-AAC'.

What MPEG1 and AC3 audio decoders do you have selected?

The audio on all channels are fine now. My provider seems to have change the audio on most SD channels to AAC or AC3 overnight. So while the video is MPEG2, the audio is either AAC or AC3. Seems weird. They seem to be braking all the standards. I change audio decoder to Ffdshow for MPEG1, AC3 and E-AC3. I left LAV for AAC.

I get audio on the HD channels using the procedure you outline above => Edit Digital Tuning -> H.264 with LC-AAC

Thanks. My next issue is that NextPVR does not seem to pick up the EPG contain in the clear QAM signal. I'm not sure if I am permitted to ask why under this thread or if I should open a new one.
