Hey,

This is set to capture/vp. Live tv still works, and the pause tv still freezes it!
Graphedit won't let me open the lastgraph.grf file - giving me an error? I've attached it in the zip file.

Cheers,
Chris

hrumph, the logs seem to think everything went fine.

You might want to try other video decoders.... From Post #1: It seems that the default MPEG2 decoders provided by windows have troubles decoding the Moonlight Video Stream, therefore it is recommended that you use the Elecard MPEG2 Video Decoder to watch your recordings.

I have a "Leadtek Winfast Tv2000 Expert" and have been attempting to use the SoftwareRecorder with it. I have the same problem as mpoling where I can play LiveTV ok but can not record nor use Timeshifting.

I've attached my log files to give further clues as to what might be happening...
I'm also not confident as to what settings I should have in the Software Recorder Configuration so I've included a screenshot in the zip file.

Thanks for any help

Hello, I have the same card, but in this forum she says that he is not compatible. To you it has worked to you well? Some tips that to give for the installation? Thanks Big Grin

aleh Wrote:Thanks normanr, this sorted it. After installing K-Lite Codec pack for decoding I can record and timeshift etc. now.
The recording playback is a bit 'jerky' but I can live with this unless you have a tip for me to try to improve it. My card was the Leadtek TV2000 XP Expert if you need it for future reference.
joters: check that you're using the right pins for capture/preview and audio. Also make sure you're using the Moonlight encoders, and you have the Elecard decoders installed. If none of this helps, then please zip up all the log files from your testing, and attach them here.

Hi

Have been experimenting with the v18 software recorder addin.

I want to use this just to view the output of my sweetspot RGB aquisition card (which is a software card - no mpeg hardware compression) so that I can view the output of my skybox (uk set top box) in GBPVR.

Surprisingly (given it is not on the list of supported devices) the card's WDM driver seems to work fine and I can select the RGB input of the card and watch TV in GBPVR. I use the open source Conexant BtPCI WDM driver.

Haven't tried recording yet. 1 thing at a time.

Problem is that the video (and also the OSD) is very poor quality. Seems to be very reduced in resolution.

When I view the output of the same card in dScaler the output is superb (much better than the RGB output of the skybox taken directly to TV)

I have added a button in GBPVR which launches dScaler for comparison purposes.

Does the recorder plug-in drop the resolution?

Since build 18 you can configure the output size for each quality setting (including LiveTV). With my card it didn't seem to change anything, but I'd like to hear if it makes a difference with yours.

You might also try playing with the output setting (VMR9/VMR7/Overlay). I found that overlay is pretty cruddy quality, where as VMR7 & VMR9 give a much better result. Unfortunately I can't use VMR9 because it has a weird 'twitch' that sub doesn't experience, and therefore can't fix.

build 19 is out and it should work with capture cards with no crossbar (like the WinTV-GO). Try it out, and let me know.

Many thanks for your reply.

I did wonder if the video I was seeing on screen using the plugin is actually the quality that would be recorded if I set that bit up.

I did experiment with setting the quality to liveTV. I noticed that the max screen res is not pal friendly however - it being limited to 480 lines as opposed to 576. I didn't seem to notice any difference with the setting of the record quality on displayed picture quality however. Using dScaler picture is outstanding so I'm sure card and driver are well.

I may end up buying an MPEG2 card (PVR-150 or similar) to record skybox via composite and use dscaler as the output device for rgb in for watching.

Are you aware of the Morgan MJPEG encoder. It is recommended on the MP forum as a low CPU usage encoder. It produces large files - but disks are cheap. :-)

The limit is detected from you card at configuration time. You might try picking a different color mode (they each have their own limits), or if you're feeling lucky you can edit the config-recorders.xml directly, and set whatever values you want. Although if the card reports not handling these sizes then I doubt it will work.

Haven't tried using it for GB-PVR. GB-PVR kind of expects an MPEG2 Program Stream, so I'm not sure if the MJPEG encoder would cut it Sad
