Does anyone have a guide on how to take recorded episodes and burn them as DVD's?

I'm thinking about creating a plugin to do it if it proves feasible, but my specialty is programming, not video.

The problem is to break apart the video from the audio for a true DVD and that is what DVD authoring software will do for you. look for freeware command line program to do the conversion process for you.

you could look into using the neros api (dont know much about it, but my understanding is you can including the neros abilities into your own program, in this case the ability to burn dvds. just have to write some code to check that the files will fit onto the disc etc, nero may do this for you, not sure).

This would be a great plugin.  Also checkout DVDAuthor can automate the creation of menus and convert mpeg to vobs it has a command line and its free.

http://dvdauthor.sourceforge.net/

Something else to consider perhaps when you write it write the code to use a array of strings for the filename instead of just one. In case someone wants to burn 2 shows to one disk.

If you need help let me know.

My 2 cents on the burn-to DVD thing.
Drop $80 CDN ($60 USD) on a Phillips DVP-642 Progressive Scan DVD/Divx player.

I burn the GBPVR recording onto DVD as a data file (way quick!Wink.
The player plays and FF/Rewinds these beautifully.

No screwing around with DVD authoring software, and cheap enough that I'm delaying building a front end for my upstairs TV.
