No, I don't think that'd be practical.

If you wanted to stick with XP and Schedules Direct, you'd probably need to switch to an XMLTV EPG source.

Did the link work I am curious if it is a SHA 256 problem

I run an instance on the cloud for testing on Win 2012 and with the same npvr.db3 and config.xml SD settings it works. You would need to copy config.xml once, and daily copy npvr.db3 to Win 7 run nextpvr -updateepgonly copy it back and run nextpvr -recurring It doesn't seem worth the hassle.

The problem with copying the npvr.db3 over, is you're overwriting important data in the server's database, like recordings that have been made etc.

Yes, the link worked, I got the hotfix, installed it, rebooted. Quite a party. It seems that at some point, in the screen on IE where it said "higher level of security required", it mentioned TLS1.1 and 1.2. I thought maybe they would magically show up in internet options after the hotfix, but they don't. Could be something didn't go right or I'm crazy or something. That's why I want some other XP users to verify.

Yes it is best to stop the server for the duration of the copy.

Kinda what I figured. Guess I'll hit the wiki and see about getting SD into XML.

I don't think it is TLS 1.1 or higher because my Vista backend is still working.

Looking at it we have to see if SchedulesDirect is forcing AES encryption. The strongest TLS 1.0 Cipher that XP has is 3DES more specifically TLS_RSA_WITH_3DES_EDE_CBC_SHA Even with 112 bits it should be strong enough for EPG data if it is allowed it.

I tried the hotfix as well, and it did not help. Although "SHA-256 Compatibility Test Passed" both before and after the hotfix, still nothing from SD.

Thanks for the tip anyway, Martin. It was worth a shot.

Did it pass in IE? It failed for me in IE. Before and after. Passed in Firefox, of course.
