stevenca Wrote:Well, I resolved this problem... It seemed that the 'ac3filter_0_70b' was causing this problem. When a movie had a AC3 (Dolby Digital) audio track a movie played fine. Ffdshow used the AC3Filter, but when playing movies another type of audio track in them the movie gradually ran out of sync (where it looks fine at the start). Even when not a AC3 audio track, ffdshow used the AC3 codec and this caused the problem. I deinstalled codec and now everything seems to run fine! Even the AC3 movies still run! Glad to hear you made some progress. When I read your post I thought you found the answer for my problems too. But, it was not ment to be. I'm having the audio sync problem from the start of file playback. It lag's anyware from 3-5 seconds. When you said the AC3 Filter appeared to be the problem I tried to remove mine. Guess what? I don't have it. All my AVI's are using MP3 audio. (Which I'm thinking I want to keep so I can play the AVI's on a portable player in the future). So, once again I'm looking for suggestions on how to solve the Audio out of sync on MVP while playing back An AVI file. Open to suggestions. Does anyone think using a different MP3 codec would help? If so, how do force a change. G-Spot says I have 3 MP3 codec's. I appricate any help anyone has to offer.

How would I check the MVP FPS? Is this in the MVP (software) settings or GBPvr?

For the MVP settings I always startup the original MVP software and go to settings, there you can set PAL or NTSC. Maybe there is an easier way to get to the MVP settings but I don't know it...

I think I'm closing in on my sync problem, and quite possibily other's as well. I used Auto GK to convert my AVI's from DVD input to AVI's. Well If had looked closely enough I might have found that the damn thing was encodeing at 23fps. Not the 29.xxx that I assumed. I'm re-encodeing a file right now to see if it works. I appriciate the help. I'm very glad you suggested looking at the FPS again. I had no idea I was doing it wrong. I'll post later if it worked. If it does, this is another point for this forum. It has been said again and again that most of the time its the AVI causing the issue not GBPvr or the MVP. I still wonder what Hauppauge does differently in the transcoding process that makes it work on their software. Oh, well I'll be happy if this is a fix. I'll post results later.

the MVP only works correctly with AVIs at 29.97 FPS. At 23.96, audio desynch happens for NTSC users.
Use the latest virtualdub to convert a 23.976 to 29.97

I re-encoded my AVI from 23.96 to 29.97 fps but it still didn't get perfect audio sync. I think I might need to start with my orignal MPEG2 file and try again. Or maybe Auto GK is the issue. Does anyone know of a good virtualdub tutiorial? VideoHelp or Doom9?

And It can be done with Auto GK. My video was encoded at 29.97 fps, with XVID as the video codec and MP3 audio. If your using Auto GK you need to press F9 (In the current beta release) and specify the frame rate. As well as check some other settings to make sure they are correct for your country. I'm going to re-encode my collection of AVI's so I get proper playback on the MVP. Now my son can watch Thomas the Tank Engine out on our playroom/porch. I'm really impressed with GBPvr, the MVP, and the users of this forum. Thanks for the feed back, suggestions, and help. I could not have fixed my AVI issues without your help.
