Phantom task started during boot disables remote control.

When I reboot, my remote on my 4K does not work at all, until I first grab the keyboard and click on the screen somewhere (happens on the last two NPVR releases). It started a couple of months ago, but I was too busy to research it then.

I've now researched, and found that focus has been claimed by a phantom task during boot, and I cannot resolve it without first clicking on the screen - which causes the phantom task to end.

This task has an active window called "The Event Manager Dashboard". I've Googled for any/every possible match without results. So, I'm hoping that someone might recognize this task, or perhaps give me somewhere else to look.

In my searches, I found that this is a fairly common fault that others have addressed with an AutoIt script, which is a quick bypass. But, I'd prefer to find the actual culprit.

can you right click on the task and locate the executable that is running this process? you can then figure out what application this is part of an whether you can uninstall or disable it.

But, I cannot right click on the phantom task, because..
It only shows when using swap-screen (alt-tab), and then only one time. As soon as I lift my fingers from those two keys, the task disappears never to reappear until the next boot.

I attempted to right click during the first alt-tab, but the only thing I get is a context menu that's missing the properties option. No indication of what task it is.

I don't know where else to look.....

Perhaps it's nothing to do with that task at all. The most common reason for nextpvr loosing focus is some process running with an icon in the notification area, the popular culprit used to be a divx video converter. have a look to see what icons you have running on the ride of your taskbar.

With apologies if I am teaching you to suck eggs ... Right click on the Task Bar at the bottom of the screen, Select Task Manger, Click More Details, Scroll through the list of tasks, Right-click on a task that looks promising and Select Open Containing Folder.
