I am very new to nextpvr, I have dabbled with tvheadend in the past but I am not new to Kodi.

I really like nextpvr, the main interface seems nice and easy to use. In peoples opinions what is the best way integrate with Kodi that will be easy for the wife to get along with? Using a mce remote for now thinking of getting an air mouse of somesort to allow control of windows vod apps such as netflix.

I see these as my options

1. Use the inbuilt pvr functionalty of kodi with the npvr addon, this seems clunky to me but does seem to work well.

2. Use the advanced launcher within kodi to launch nextpvr and go back to kodi when it is exited.

3. Launch kodi and other app from withing npvr (is this possible?)

Edit does anyone have a pre-configured config file for mce remote which maps the guide/info/live tv/recordings buttons correctly?

Many thanks

Have you come across XNEWA ... the NextPVR user interface running inside Kodi ... doesn't use the PVR addon ... http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ight=xnewa

X-NEWA is what I use--in web client mode.

There are a lot of generic MCE remotes with extra buttons and key mapping varies by platform (Windows LE etc), but x-newa web client does map keys for those buttons to the NextPVR equivalent in web client. when you disable the built in actions. You probably can do the same with pvr addons by default

Many thanks it looks good, Whats the best way to use it, there appears to be a few options.

IIUC I need vlc to use the timeshift streaming option in the webclient?

If you plan on using the Kodi UI a lot, I suggest for WAF you might want to just use sub's addon. It is primarily if you prefer NextPVR UI likethe others who have posted here, that you look into web client.

That being said until sub adds timeshifting to web client xnewa won't really be able to support it. Hopefully this will happen one day especially now that nlite is also getting a bit of love.

In x-newa hopefully you are using the current beta, but in that I have disabled VLC timeshifting in favour of single show timeshifting effectively just recording playing and cancelling/deleting the in-progress show. I do support timeshifting playback using the pvr.nextpvr interface but it has lots of warts even if used without x-newa. (lost tuners requiring a service restart, failures to stop live tv filling my live tv buffer etc).

Thanks Martin, its great that people like you are providing lots of additional options to complement the great work sub does.

I'll keep tinkering and see where I land.

+1 X-NEWA

I run LibreElec beta on RPi2 and Celeron Nettop. Both work with cheap MCE remote.
