Well this could be very good news for NextPVR fans, especially new users. Of course, the details can always be a problem. There appears to a MPEG2 Video Extension available in the Microsoft App Store: ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9n95q1zzpmh4.
For know, you have to be on the Win10 insider program to make use of this app. The implication seems that once the next major Win10 update is released the MPEG2 video extension will be available to all Win10 users when there system gets updated to the next major release. The next major release for Win10 is currently called "Creators Update" (code name: Red stone 2) and should be released in March of 2017.
The $64,00 question is will this extension only work on Win10 UWP apps? Will NextPVR have access to this codec?
Any one out there currently on the Windows Insider program for Win10?
