I have the nextpvr program as well as the NextPVR plugin in Kodi on my computer. As a newbe, I have run into a bunch of questions on programming timers.
Generally, I want to program a number of timers to record a variety of shows on a weekly basis. I don't want to record any reruns, only new episodes. I also want to allow for the stations changing the schedule day or time in a particular week. I have tried a number of sequences but can't seem to accomplish both objectives.
Using NextPVR I double click the guide and I have the option of Record Season (New or All episodes). Selection New seems OK until I look at the timer in Kodi. Here it shows that the show only records between the hours as set by the episode selected in the guide, i.e. "Any day from xx to yy".
In Kodi, I select a program and right click to Add Timer. Now I am offered the choice of Type. If I choose "Repeating(Guide)", the scheduled time is "Any day from xx to yy". If I choose "Repeating (Keyword)", the scheduled time shows as "Any day at any time". In both cases there doesn't seem to be an option for limiting the recordings to Only New Episodes.
What is the magic combination to get "Only New Episodes" and "Any day at any time" ?
------------------------------------------
I also have a problem with trying to simultaneously record the same show on two different channels. I am trying to test the quality of OTA recordings but don't want to miss a show in case there is a problem such as bad weather. When I try to program the second copy of the show, it doesn't want to program both copyies for recording. How can I defeat this 'feature'?
-----------------------------------------
Also, there is a particular show that usually appears on the HD station and is followed later on the SD station (both OTA). Normally, I prefer to watch the HD version but sometimes the HD station skips the show so I have to watch it in its SD versions. Is it possible to specify "Any Channel" for a timer or do I just have to make two timers?
-----------------------------------------
Finally, the 'Timers' listing in Kodi has a columns "Status". What is the function of "Enabled" and how is it set?
If I click on a repeating program, the sub list shows each scheduled recording with a Type of "Child Recording". Does this have a meaning?
Thanks, Mike
