How do I get closed-captions (embedded in my TS files) to play in KODI?

First you need to go to the accessibility options and enable subtitles for the hearing impaired. http://kodi.wiki/view/Settings/Player/Accessibility.

Then Settings->Video->Language->Subtitles->Enable parsinng for closed captions (Expert Setting)

After that you just need to toggle subtitles off and on. Default key is T and however you might need configure the remote

If you want them on by default go into Setting button on a playing video, enable subtitles and select the option make that the default
