All was working satisfactorily until I upgraded to KODI 17.3. On trying to use KODI it could not communicate with NextPVR. So I tried to see LiveTv within NextPVR and received the message "Unable to communicate with recording service". I have check previous threads with this heading and this appears to me to be different, hence my post.
I tried starting NRecord.exe manually and received the message:
Unhandled exception: System.I.O. FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Unmanaged.dll' or one of its dependencies. The specified module could not be found. at NRecord.Program.Main(String[]args)
Unmanaged.dll does exist.
I deleted NextPVR and re-installed and got the same results.
I also started NextPVR Recording Service from within Task Manager/Services. Same result.
Logs are attached.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Your problem seems to be more related to earlier problem https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...ate-Update and not Kodi. Uninstalling is not generally how to fix NextPVR issues. I am guessing it is a/v or firewall problems on the ports that NextPVR needs.

In response to Martin's suggestions I did the following:
Turned off the firewall. Started NextPVR.....Checked Task Manager/Service - NPVR Recording Service was stopped so I started it
Looked at Task Manager/Details and both NextPVR and NRecord.exe were running.
Selected LiveTV from the menu, there was no message but screen went blank for a moment then returned to Menu.
Minmised NextPVR and started KODI - could not find NextPVR client-closed Kodi.
Back to NextPVR and selected TVGuide from menu - guide came up and I selected a program>Quick Record seemed successful.
Went back to cancel recording and got message:
"Unhandled exception has occurred in a component..............
No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:8968"
-- I clicked on Continue, went back to Cancel Recording and got the same result.
This time I scanned details of error and saw reference to:
"Unmanaged - Assembly Version 1.0.6158.18570 -Win32 Version
CodeBase:file:///CTonguerogram%20Files%20(x86)/NPVR/Unmanaged.DLL"
I noted this as in a previous problem the "Unmanaged.ddl" had been cited in an error message.
Exited NextPVR.
I later moved the the USB TV dongle to a different USB port, (this had resolved a problem I had before),
but got the same results.

Logs are attached. Log(2) are the first attempts. NextPVR.log was attempt after changing USB port.
Image of the "Unmanaged" error message also attached.

A problem with a/v was also suggested. I am not sure what this means. Is it audio visual? If so what sort
of problem? With the video card, with the codecs?

Any ideas/suggestions warmly welcomed.

Tos save time here is no point testing Kodi until things work in NextPVR. Also you should be using the Settings->About "Zip my log.." files button to zip up all the logs so that we get all the logs, some important ones are missing. That reference to unmanaged.dll is ok, not an error.

Does the software that came with your USB capture device work?

Hi Martin,
Ran MediaPortal2 and the TV worked fine.
Attached are the logs zipped as you suggested.

Thanks for you interest.

Thanks still seems to be the same problem with the card from the first post. Do you have MediaPortal2 running with NextPVR perhaps it steals the card and needs to be shutdown. If not, there is a utility called FilterCheck installed with NextPVR that provides some info on the card, maybe post the output from it as this becomes a problem for sub.

Unfortunately it's not a good time in our release cycle to help you with this. Normally I'd provide a patch to help us get more info on what is happening, but I can't do that at this stage.

It's nothing to do with updating Kodi though. That is just a coincidence. It appears to be something quirky happening with the drivers with this device. If it's working in another app, then it should be able to work with NextPVR too, but there must be something strange happening with this specific device though, which is tripping up the application. Sorry, not much we can do about it right now. Maybe try looking for updated drivers.

Thank you to Administrator and to Martin.
I will try to check all that out.
I cannot remember from where I bought this USB TV dongle, but probably it is an old Chinese cheapy.
I have another one, (which I use with EyeTV on a Mac Mini), I can try that, but maybe I need to by a new one.
I will post what happens, together with the logs.

Thanks again,
Richard

Hi,
Installed USB TV Dongle Hauppauge NovaT500 and then installed this in NextPVR and scanned for channels.
Selected LiveTV and had the same message of unable to access recording device, as before.
Logs attached.

Downloaded Filter Check from NextPVR Wiki. Ran FilterCheck.exe. Log attached.

Thanks for looking at this. If there is anything else I can provide information about then please let me know.
