The StartClientHost message seems normal to me in the logs I have seen for the desktop host.

I am wondering why Direct3D isn't working "Using Direct2DHelper" Most of the problems I have seen related to size are with Direct2D and your laptop appears to be reasonable new. Perhaps try installing this https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download...aspx?id=35

It might be worth running "nextpvr.exe -no3d" to see if it makes any difference to your fullscreen issues. This will start with Direct2D and Direct3D disabled.

OK... Here are the logs and the script I followed...

Complete NEW install never run.
Ntray icon there and all services show normal.

Open NPVR and do Quick Record of a show. In a window and did not view while recording.
Stop recording and view in window... perfect.
Go full screen
Throws me back to What's New menu with audio still playing.
Right click and full screen window comes up at 1/4 of whole screen with normal desktop showing. I mean as in there are no titlebar or anything on video window... it's a miniature full screen floating in space.
Go full screen again... lots of flasing, comes back same way.
Esc key doesn't stop playback
Right click and after lots of flashing full sceen comes up again as 1/4 of screen but this time the desktop is gone and just black screen around tiny full screen video.
Left click and window expands but not to full screen.
Hit Alt-Enter for full screen and back to What's New menu.
Right click again... now full screen working as it should. No issue with video or audio.

Live TV Test while still in full screen and works fine.

Exit NPVR
Ntray Icon still there.

Back into NPVR and go to Guide and pick a live TV show (in window). Black with audio, no video in window.
Esc out and try again... video/audio normal in window on second try.
Go full screen and after lots of flashes takes me back to Guide with audio still playing.
Esc out to stop video and throws me back to windowed mode.
Do same again... start show in live TV and exact same things happen.
Then, right click and it goes full screen.

Exit NPVR
Ntray icon still there.

Restart PC
Ntray icon GONE! Fifth time now.

Can you try that suggestion above, about running "NextPVR.exe -no3d"?

When that happens, if you press the Home key twice on your keyboard, does the video come back?

The pressing Home key twice didn't do anything useful. Just popped up the top-line menu.

YES!! Using the -no3d parameter seems to have fixed the full screen issue!! That made me do a happy dance. Now, hopefully, when I go in/out of full screen I also won't lose the ntray icon.
Fingers crossed. Will report back in a day or two after more testing.
Thanks to all!!

When you get to the top-line menu, does pressing Home one further time get you video?

The reason being - if you're watching live tv or recording, and you press the home key, it switches to "inset mode" where the playback continues in the background, but with the screens over the video. Pressing Home again will usually take you to the top menu, pressing home again will usually take you back to the video.

Quick update...
I was just checking before I updated you and noticed a new version available. I installed that.
Prior Version:
Everything seems to be stable now. The Ntray.exe and icon disappear after using full screen mode.
Newest Version:
Still seems stable. Take time to know for sure. But, had to laugh, the Ntray.exe issue is still happening.
After new install, the icon was there and service running. I went in/out of app several times and used full screen. Ntray still fine. Then I rebooted and BANG it was GONE.

Thanks
