Win10-64bit GTX960 HD HomeRun Extend Video Decoder

Hello, I have an i5-7600 with a GTX960 Video Card. I have the HD HomeRun Extend and through the HD Player, everything plays perfectly. When I play video through NextPVR, it plays back in the same manner that a tv station with poor reception would come in. So my guess is that it has something to do with the video decoder NextPVR is using.

I have tried SAF unlocked, LAV 0.70, LAV 0.68 (that comes with SAF), Microsoft DVD-DTV and ffdshow. None of them produce smooth playback. Reading these forums and searching leads to a lot of MPEG-2 discussion. However, NextPVR is using the H.264 decoder for me. When I try to configure the LAV Video Decoder and try to select DXVA2 (Native), the Hardware Device to use goes greyed out and says "The selected Hardware Decoder does not support using a specific device."

Now, since the HD HomeRun Player works perfectly, how can I get NextPVR to use that video decoder? Or does someone else have another suggestion? Thanks in advance. I've been searching for hours and trying all sorts of different configurations.

[ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND] This is what is happening when I watch with NPVR Client. HD HR Client works fine.

[ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND] Current NPVR Settings. I've tried LAV Video Decoder, ffmpeg, Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder and CyberLink Video Decoder (PDVD13). The CyberLink produces no video. The rest look like the screenshot, the distortion comes and goes.

Also, DXVA2 (Copy-Back) shows the Nvidia card, but produces the same distortions.

The HDHomeRun app(UWP) uses Microsoft video decoders. MPEG2 is decoded using software unless the MPEG2 Extension(GPU) form the Microsoft store is added to your system. The MPEG2 Extension will only work in WIN10 UWP apps.

By default the Extend should be converting MPEG2 to MPEG4 on the fly. I think there is a setting that you can turn "off" MPEG4 transcoding and just the MPEG2 stream is sent. I also believe there are a couple of MPEG4 bit stream settings you can set the Extend to use in transcoding MPEG2 to MPEG4.

Have you tried using Windows Media Player to access the Extend and play a channel?

I would also make sure that the Extend is running the latest filmware. SD just recently released a new update.

And I have seen many posts referring to MPEG-2, but NextPVR tries to use H.264 decoder, not the MPEG-2 decoder. Changing the MPEG-2 decoder does nothing. So how does what you explained relate to the H.264 codec?

I'd do a recording in NextPVR, and check if you're seeing the same thing playing back the recording, then try playing back the recording in another player, like VLC, to see if you see the same thing there.

I'll create some recordings and play them back to see. That is a good idea and will help provide more information hopefully.

I have the computer wired up at 1Gbps. Network is definitely not the issue, but I would have asked the same thing

Okay, I've tried creating a recording and then played back the .ts file in VLC. Unfortunately I got the same result. So does that mean it is having the same issue encoding?
