Is NEWA only for Kodi or is it for desktop usage independent of Kodi? I understand that X-NEWA is for Kodi integration but was interested if this (NEWA) is for desktop usage.
It's the NextPVR web application. It's unrelated to Kodi. You can use it for browsing the tv guide, scheduling recordings etc, just like you can in the main NextPVR application.
Is it necessary to have IIS installed and running in order to have NEWA work correctly? I installed and configured IIS on my W10 box but attempts to get to the NEWA landing page at 127.0.0.1:8866 or localhost gets me to the IIS landing page and not NEWA. TIA
The web interface is new to me, but I would like to start using it.
My goal is to access my server from another site, via internet.
First off, do I understand that NEWA is no longer valid?
I have no problem accessing the new web server locally, but need help to do it remotely.
Is there a writeup somewhere?
There is a 3-year old writeup on how to set up NEWA, but the screens are different from the current version.
NEWA with the classic interface is still there for people that want to use it. The default interface is the new modern one though, which doesn't attempt to do as much as the old classic web app, but is cleaner and easier to understand. You can select between modern and classic on the Settings->Clients screen.
I'm not aware of any writeup on using it remotely. If you're trying to use it remotely, you need to change the username and password from the default. You'd also need to setup your router to forward requests to your web app. I'd recommend using a non-standard port, and not trying to put it on port 80.
Couple of questions:
What is the default user/password in case I need to reset it?
Do I need to tick the "remote access" box in the settings screen?
I was using 7648 as the port number; OK?
I'm still having problems connecting remotely; need to do more research on port-forwarding.
