Fast Forward and Rewind not working correctly

Fast Forward and Rewind act more line Skip Forward and Skip Back. They go for a bit and then the program resumes playing after going forward/rewind for several seconds. Sometimes the sound keeps going as it was before the fast forward/rewind. I need to push some other transport keys to recover. The results are the same using a remote, keyboard, or on screen keys. Skip Forward and Back work fairly well but sometimes the video plays in slow motion for a few seconds or stops until I hit the key again. This appears to be preventing Comskip from working correctly also. I can see the black bars on the timeline bar and they correctly identify where the commercials are. But I experience similar issues when the program attempts to skip the commercials. Sometimes the program sound skips correctly but the picture is stuck in slow or fast motion for a few minutes. And sometimes the program just proceeds into the commercials.
I'm running Windows 10 and my recordings are on NAS. However, I get similar results in Live TV being buffered to my C drive.

I moved the recorded shows folder from the NAS to a local USB drive attached to my computer. I recorded new shows but still have the same problem with Fast Forward, Rewind, Skip Forward and Skip Back. And this causes problems with Comskip working properly. Any suggestions?

There has been several of versions of the TSReader posted, with lots of incremental changes since the original version. My understanding is that most of those problems are resolved now - I'm happy to take a look at one of your recordings if it's behaving badly though.

Sorry, I'm a newbie. Where would I find a good TSReader to try and how do I install it?
I don't think its the recordings since I can play them OK with other devices (WinTV and Plex). I won't have access to the files until the weekend so I wouldn't be able to post them until then, but let me know if you want to look at one anyway.

Have you got 4.0.5 installed? That's a fairly recent one. A slightly newer one can be found at:

I tried the file in the link and still have the same problem.
I replaced NPVRTSReader4.ax in the NPVR program files flolder with the file in the link, did I do it correctly? I also noticed there is a file called NPVRTSReader2.ax in the same folder, should I delete it?

Yes, if you replaced the old one, then it's successfully installed.

If you've got a recording you can share, which exhibits these problems, I'm happy to download it and try here.

No. That's the alternative one used when you tick the 'use legacy reader and demux' check box. You could try that to see if it works better for you.

I'll try to record a half hour show and upload it. All of my current "good" recordings are an hour or more. I'm with Dish for my internet so I have a data cap. I may not upload it for a while. Google Drive OK?
