Thank you for persevering with this, sub. I just started the recording service again, and as of right now, it has been running 'OK' for about 5 minutes. But, how long that will last is anyone's guess. Here's the current contents of the log folder.

Surprisingly the Recording Service is still running this morning, now showing a PID of 6200, which it didn't have yesterday. I'm still concerned by the vageries of this, though. Why does it stop sometimes (it shouldn't ever stop, right?) and why when it has stopped is it difficult to get it started again for more than a second or two?

To be honest, I don't really have any answers for you at this stage. There isn't any known problem that would account for what you were describing. I probably needed to get through a few more diagnostic steps while it was in the broken state, so I could find the cause, then I'd be able to fix it.

Let us know next time it breaks in this way, and we'll try a few more things.
