I was told that DVB/ATSC in the USA only updates six hours of programming. Is it possible to modify NPVR run a the "Update EPG" more than once every 24 hours in the settings under MISC2?

If NPVR can run the "Update EPG" every six hours, My EPG GUIDE will be complete all the time instead of having "No Shows" listed after six hours. I have to use both XMTV and DVB/ATSC to be able to receive both National (XMTV) and Local (DVB/ATSC) programming. I use only OTA programming.

Running ZapItXML Update EPG.bat every six hours won't do the trick since it won't be updated until NPVR runs Update EPG which is once a day.

make it easy on yourself use tvguide or pay for schedules direct unless you don't have internet access where your next pvr box is located.

You could probably run a schedule task to update the EPG with the command line -updateepgonly option http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...ineOptions
Server : NextPVR 4.2.3 Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 @2.4GHz 8GB Win7Pro, Hauppauge HVR-2250 Dual Tuner, DIAMOND ATI Theater HD 750 USB TV Tuner, Homemade fractal antenna, SchedulesDirect EPG.
Client : NextPVR 4.2.3 Intel I7-2600K @4.5GHz 8GB, Radeon HD6800, Win7Pro

Thanks but I can't afford to spend monthly fees to update my EPG programming. Plus TVGUIDE is the same as Zap2it in which they changed the format for downloading EPG Programming. It now just downloads National programming but not Local programming. Thus I have to use the XMLTV for National Programming and DBA/ASTC for Local Programming.

I guess my Post Quick Reply didn't go through.

Thanks, that is what I was looking for. I created a Scheduled Task that will run indefinitely every hour (the most allowed under Task -Schedule). In "actions" I directed it to start the file NextPVR.exe with "Options" -updateepgonly. I am running the Task now and will see if it updates the EPG in NPVR EPG Programming.

Thanks again for your help. Hopefully this will keep my NPVR & KODI EPG Programming constantly up to date. I have a Scheduled Task to run the UpdateEPG.bat once a day and now for NPVR to run UPDATE EPG every hour indefinitely.

Crossing my fingers it will work. If not I will update to get more info in how to use the " -updateEPGonly" option.

For completeness ... you will need to use the -multi command line option when using NextPVR to watch shows (or do anything at all) if this coincides with one of your scheduled EPG tasks (or vice versa). I don't know what happens if you use -multi for the first instance of NextPVR ... I'll let you do the trial and (hopefully not) error.

Keep in mind, this will use a tuner...so make sure you have multiple tuners, or no recordings at the time you run it.

I don't mind running two tasks for NPVR. So, Far it is working well. The EPG in NPVR is updating my DBA/ATSC local programming every hour and updating my NPVR EPG accordingly 6 hours worth of Local programming. My TV Tuner card has two tuners (Hauppauge - several years old and still working great) and I am able to watch shows (Live TV) as long as one Tuner is available. Unless I have other issues with EPG, I will try your suggestion. Thanks in advance.

I have a Two Tuner Hauppauge TV card. So what you are saying is If both of my Tuners are recording, One will stop recording to update the EPG schedule?

I didn't think it will interfere with the Tuners since it is updating just the EPG which is already downloaded from before. It is just basically adding one more hour to my EPG programming schedule Menu every hour.

I will see if this happens. I have two shows being programmed almost every night. I will see if one is interrupted at the beginning of the recording or it is not recorded at all.

Thanks for the heads up. Will keep a watch on that to see what happens during the updating of the EPG while both Tuners are recording.
