Yes, hopefully the fix is just going to the Settings->Misc screen and set the Live TV Buffer directory to a valid directory. For example, you might create a directory called c:\temp, then browse and select that directory. For some reason yours is currently set to an invalid directory.

Hi Sub,

I did a recording last night, but I forgot to set a folder for the download. Now, I can not find where the recording is in the computer!! My mistake.

I don’t know where the “Default” folder is.

Will you be able to help?

Thanks

On the Settings->Recordings screen, it'll record to whatever it says the Recording Directory is there. If you don't have a recording directory set, then it most likely went no where.

I don't know why both your Live TV Buffer directory and Recording directory had been set to nothing. I've not seen any other reports of that happening. Had you maybe had them to connected to a drive that no longer exists? like a USB drive that has been disconnected?

If you try play that file, then post your logs, I'll check where the file is.

Hi Sub,

Please see attached for the logs - Please let me know where the recorded file is.

Also, what is a recording-backup and what is it used for?

Thanks.

NextPVR starts a new log file whenever a NextPVR process starts (or when a log file grows large) ... The previous log file is renamed to log.1 (and the log.1 renamed to log.2). The NextPVR Server Service runs continuously in the background and starts and stops the creation of recordings. The nrecord.log.1 created by the NextPVR Server Service contains ...

Quote:2018-04-06 01:17:36.758 [DEBUG][9] allocating recording target filename: C:\Users\Allen\Downloads\PVR\NESN Sports Update [New!]\NESN Sports Update [New!]_20180406_01000120.ts
2018-04-06 01:17:36.759 [DEBUG][9] About to start recording (855 on 20): C:\Users\Allen\Downloads\PVR\NESN Sports Update [New!]\NESN Sports Update [New!]_20180406_01000120.ts...

To indicate that recording files are being stored in the folder C:\Users\Allen\Downloads\PVR\

When you watch Live TV, NextPVR creates a temporary file containing the Live TV stream and this file is used if you pause or rewind Live TV. The npvr.log created by the NextPVR front-end software contains ...

Quote: <LiveTV handle="140003">LIVE&C:\Temp\live-Sky Sports Cricket HD-2632-4.ts</LiveTV>

To indicate that the Live TV buffer folder is C:\Temp\

You can add and remove folders to store recordings at NextPVR Settings --> Recordings ... you can specify one or more folders and you can tell NextPVR which folder to use when you tell NextPVR to make a recording.

You can specify the Live TV buffer folder at NextPVR Settings --> Misc

Jam Wrote:Also, what is a recording-backup and what is it used for?

NextPVR stores information including EPG data and information about recordings in a database file npvr.db3. From time to time, the NextPVR Server Service exports data from the database file into .xml files in the data folder (usually c:\User\Publc\NPVR) into recording-backup .xml files ... These files contain information about the recordings including the filenames but do not contain copies of the recorded TV stream. You can view the content of these recording-backup files using, for example, Notepad.

Thank you Graham for the explanation, but I am totally lost.

I just need to know where the recorded file called "Default" is stored, so I can delete it, since it is a big file.

Thanks.
