That explanation kind of makes sense, but doesn't explain one thing. After this happens with one recording it usually happens with every recording after until/unless the NPVR services are restarted. Also, it never happens to the first recording made after the NPVR services are restarted.

I am not sure if this is related to this but i also have a problem with witching from one codec to another. For example if i am watching a channel (live) and the codec is aac if i click up and the next channel is ac3 , i will get the message that says no audio missing audio codec... etc

At this point (if i have the channel side panel pinned and open) i'll click on the same channel that has no audio again and i will get a can't connect to device 403 error. The playback will stop.

Now if i click on the same channel again it will play the ac3 audio no problem. and all other ac3 source channels.

So it seems that there is a bit of trouble jumping from source to source.

I am not sure if this is a npvr or codec problem -- i have tried with just the default DTD decoders and latest lav

So far seems to be working, tried recording 15 channels briefly without issue.

Not sure if shqiperih's issue in the quote above was resolved (or if I should start a new thread), but I am having the very same problem described when changing channels in Live TV. If the first channel is AC3 and playing fine, and then I go up to the next channel which is AAC, I get a missing AAC audio codec message. If I stop playing and then simply go back into Live TV, the AAC channel plays fine, but if I change channels down to the previous AC3 channel, it now says that the AC3 audio codec is missing. It seems as though NextPVR is having trouble switching audio codecs during a channel change? I have attached the logs. Thanks for any help with this.

I remember long ago I inserted an entry into the registry:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\NPVR]
"PreferAC3"=dword:00000001

is this still relevant? and if it is, helpful?
Win Server: ASRock P67 Pro3 B3, i5 2500K 4.0Ghz, 16GB, Nvidia GT430 HDMI, Win 10 Pro 64bit, Win-TV Quad HD, Win-TV Nova-T USB.
UnRaid NAS Server: Gigabyte i7 2600 3.4Ghz, 16GB, S3 Trio VGA PCI Video, DVB LibreElec for DVB-T tuner drivers, Hauppage Win-TV 2210 Dual DVB-T.
Win Client: Intel NUC i3 Broadwell, 4GB Ram, 128GB SSD, Win 10 Pro 64bit.
Linux Client: Raspberry Pi 3+, OSMC + Kodi

Thanks for the tip vintdiesel, but unfortunately it didn't fix this issue.

Hey sub,

I remember from the last thread that talked about this that this setting only applies to recordings (and not live tv):
https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...post519697

Is this still the case in the latest version?

FWIW, I also get these issues when changing channels, including for iptv sources where the sound actually plays fine but I get the "you are missing an mpeg decoder" message etc.

Thanks, sgilani...I think based on your thoughts and the older thread you provided, this might be why changing channels in Live TV still has problems with the audio codecs. I guess it is something that I could not possibly fix myself be by changing any settings, so I will wait to see what sub has to say.
