Hi ambro,

The '1' switch also displays channel name, video title and (i think - i'm not at home to test) artist title for me. When I get home i'll post my smartie settings so you can compare. The only other difference between us is that I'm using the My Videos plugin. This shouldn't make any difference but you never know....

Ok, I've found out that the clicking on FM Radio is unrelated to this plugin, and I have e-mailed Gomer asking if he is prepared to futher develop this plugin. Now waiting for a response from gomer.

I've had 2 e-mail replies from Gomer:

E-mail 1:

FM Radio: Sure, I'd be happy to do what I can but there is one major
problem there.... I don't have a card that supports FM Radio, I only have
the standard Hauppage PVR150 non-MCE. But I'll add it to my list of things
to do as soon as I have some time to spare.

External Exception: Yup, also on the list, actually way up there at the
top. I don't really know why it does that (only sometimes for me, not
always and only for a short while), but I will definately investigate
further.

I also plan on adding GBPVR Recording service control that automatically
restarts the recording service when it's gotten stuck recording something
that should have stopped already. Also more control of the output is
planned but I haven't decided yet exactly how to do this...

Any more suggestions are welcome!

One thing though: I'm moving to Prague in two weeks and before that my
schedule is extremely full so don't expect anything new for a few weeks at
least. Once I've settled down there I will resume the SmartiePlugin
project...

Great, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one missing this plugin. Sure, you
can post my reply. You can also inform everyone that as soon as I get
settled I will add a new thread with a more appropriate title than the
current one that outlines my plans and where people can comment and
provide feedback on the plugin. A hint on some of the errors, the external
exception MIGHT be related to MyVideos and whether you are using that
plugin or not. I think I might be using the MyVideos database functions so
that might be the cause of the exception errors since I'm only getting it
for <1 seconds and only sometimes after which it works properly. Also I
think the current "release" is compiled using the older GBPVR version
which might be causing more trouble This is all more stuff that will be
corrected once I get somewhat organized at my new student apartment in
Prague

Thanks for the heads up. Guess we'll have to sit tight for a little while. I think this plugin has a lot of potential. Will be interesting to see what develops over the weeks to come.

FYI, I have successfully got the Smartie/iMon plugin displaying video info by installing and using the "My Videos" plugin.

That's what I needed !!! My Matrix Orbital 16*2 LCD was not working with jaLCD... Only Smartie does. But how sad I am as I can't figure out how to set it up correctly. Actually Smartie is OK and can display details on my LCD. But I only have blank lines with the SmartiePlugin/GbpvrSmartieProxy screens !

I've launched GBPVR config utility but didn't find GbpvrSmartieProxy. I guess this is the problem. I started GBPVR anyway but nothing appears on my LCD :-(

Assuming you have got the Smartie application displaying ok on the VFD, then the problem is the gbpvr LCD plugin.

- Make sure the SmartiePlugin.dll put into the Smartie "plugins" subdirectory
- In the gbpvr directory, create a subdirectory called "plugins" (if not existing) and put the gbpvrsmartieproxy.dll into that
- Download CommonGbpvrUtilities.dll from the Wiki plugin developer page and put the file into the gbpvr root directory
- Download and install the MyVideos plugin (and associated database)
- Launch the GBPVR config application (to automatically register the Smartie plugin) and configure MyVideos plugin
- Reboot PC

This was already done..

I replaced the existing one (august, 18th) with the wiki one (august, 8th)

- Download and install the MyVideos plugin (and associated database)

I'm using this plugin from a long time and it is uptodate

- Launch the GBPVR config application (to automatically register the Smartie plugin) and configure MyVideos plugin

At this point, gbpvrsmartieproxy plugin does not appear as usual, I guess the problem is here, but i can't figure out

- Reboot PC

Done but i also guess it needs smartie apps running before to launch gbpvr, right ? Anyway nothing appears except blanks for the 3 smartie's screen and other ones (cpu usage, temp ...) are ok

Any idea ? What am I missing ?

Hi Guys,

Sounds like you've done everything correctly. You just have to run the config to activate the plugin - it doesn't show up in the list. Subsequent mucking around has led me to discover that the location of smartie seems quite important. For me it only works if I have LCD Smartie on the desktop (I know it seems bonkers) Maybe you can try moving it. If all else fails then remove the dll's and try again from the start.

Have you got the syntax correct in Smartie?

Where Gomer said enter:
Screen 1, Line 1: $dll(SmartiePlugin,1,whatever,whatever) centered

He really meant go to screen 1, line 1 and enter:
$dll(SmartiePlugin,1,whatever,whatever)
with "centered" ticked

If this is already correct, then I'm out of ideas sorry.
