OK, just an update. I got another email from CyberLink support which was way off base. Basically just shot a pre-cooked answer to me without reading my request.

I re-sent my request using language that would make a 6-year-old blush. The response (important part):
Quote:In regards to your issue, I have forwarded your request to our concerned department to check.

At this moment, I would appreciate your patience.
Now we wait and see.

I noticed you can purchase the Cyberlink remote and IR-receiver package at the Cyberlink online store http://www.gocyberlink.com.

The cost is USD 24.95 (NZD 35.87)

But they sting you for Postage USD 21.87 (NZD 31.45) via US standard mail.

It would be cheaper if someone in the US can buy it locally and ship it themselves to New Zealand.

I've been in contact with ATI and Sapphire.

On Monday ATI sent a couple of ATI remotes. I should get these in a few days.

Sapphire have also said they will send a Theatrix 550 with Cyberlink remote, but I'm not sure if this has been sent yet. Hopefully this package will also arrive in a few days.

That's really cool! I'd love to get rid of the old Hauppauge 34btn remote in favor of the CyberLink one. It is much more responsive, and the IR detector "eye" of the Hauppauge keeps falling off.
Thanks,
GGF

Cool - thanks sub.

When you do get a change to look at it, I am particularily interested in getting the volume up/down buttons to control Windows master volume. The remote does this by default when gbpvr is not running, however when gbpvr is running it overwrites this functionality no longer adjusts the master volume.

Thanks SUB for getting the volume buttons working properly on v0.94.13, and also various other buttons.

It's working great!

Cheers
