Can't enter timeshift mode

Whenever I try to pause or I hit record, I get "Starting Timeshift mode TV. Please Wait." Then I am taken to the main menu, without entering timeshift mode.

When I unchecked the "Use Live Preview mode if possible" box in the Misc tab of config, I cannot even watch TV anymore. Now, when I press "Live TV" in the main menu, I get "Starting Timeshift mode TV. Please Wait." Then I am taken again back to the main menu, without entering timeshift mode.

Can anyone help?

Which codec are you using? Can you try another one and see what the result is?

I figured it out!

The Recording and LiveTV buffer directories were set to a path that was erased from my computer. Recreated the missing path and everything's ok now.

GBPVR did not validate the existence of this path when config settings were saved repeatedly, and also did not signal an error when I tried to use that path in the app for recording or buffering.

This behavior should be corrected in both places because the software does not work properly and the user gets no clue to the possible problem.
