AT&T router problems

AT&T internet works well except for one PC application, named NextPVR.

It is the one application that is preventing me from switching from Comcast internet to AT&T internet.

If I use a Netgear router (for Comcast internet), NextPVR works well.

If I use an AT&T router (for AT&T internet), NextPVR does not work.

The routers are connected (only one at a time) to a D-Link switch, which is connected to the PC running NextPVR, and to an HDHomeRun tuner.

NextPVR does not give an error saying it can't find the tuner, so it does find the tuner.

The AT&T problem is that NextPVR produces a 0 length file, as if it starts recording, but then stops.
The related AT&T problem is that NextPVR will not play any live TV. (However, HDHomeRun View does work with both routers.)

Somehow, the AT&T router does not facilitate streaming, but the Netgear router does???

I have tried rebooting and switching cables several times. Any clues to fix?

Post the logs and I'll take a look.

What he said ... Connect the failing router ... reboot the NextPVR computer to reset the logs ... recreate the problem ... NextPVR Settings --> About and press the button to zip the logs ... Attach the logs to a post telling us the time that the problem happened so that we know where to look in the logs.

Sorry, I wanted to get a bunch more good recordings before I switched to AT&T again.
Here, are two logs you can sort of diff between:
Log 1: logs-20190223-1512.zip - Where I got the good recordings with Netgear router.
Then, I powered down, switched to the AT&T router, and powered back up.
Then, I tried watching live TV with NextPVR, and I scheduled a manual recording between 4pm and 5pm.
Then, I zipped this next log:
Log 2: logs-20190223-1704.zip - Should show recording problems between 3:59pm and 5:02pm?

Summary:
HDHomeRun View worked well with AT&T router for all channels.
HDHomeRun Tuner Status showed NextPVR switching channels for live TV and recording.
NextPVR live TV was blank for all channels.
NextPVR recording was 0 KB in size.
NextPVR recording status was: "Failed - No errors, but no data delivered..."
Thanks for your help!

The nrecord.log has this ...

Quote:2019-02-23 15:59:01.383 [DEBUG][9] Status: ERROR: resource locked by 192.168.1.77

I can't tell what device is 192.168.1.77.

Are the IP addresses of devices changing when you switch routers? Is it the routers that allocate IP addresses to the devices on your network?

Most routers allow you to specify the IP address to be used for each MAC address. It might be that you can get a result if you specify the IP addresses for the NextPVR machine that makes the recordings and for the HomeRun devices and ensure that they are the same on the AT&T router as they are on the Netgear router.

Perhaps, some connections are cached on your devices between router restarts. When you switch routers, you need to power down all devices and restart them one-by-one. When resetting the LAN, I usually follow the process below...

1. Shutdown router and all devices
2. Wait 2 minutes
3. Start your router, wait til it cycles up (~60 secs)
4. One by one, turn on the devices on your network
5. For wi-fi devices, turn off wifi (or disconnect), wait a few seconds (20-30), then turn on and connect again.

192.168.1.77 was listed as an unknown device, different from the IP address of the tuner.
After powering down and up, and resetting the router, the router still remembered all the ip and mac addresses even with nothing connected.
I found a control button on the router interface to clear and rescan all the addresses.
That FIXED it!
Thanks
