Local XMLTV file for IPTV EPG

Is there a way to specify a local XML file as the guide source when importing channels for an IPTV device.
I tried a couple of variations for a local file URL without any success.

You should be able to do "c:\filename.xml". If not, try "file://C:/filename.xml"

I tried your second example previously.
The problem is it doesn't automatically load any EPG info.
When I access the channel details the source is NONE.
I still need to access each channel individually and select XMLTV as the source.

If I point to the same XML file using "http://vaders.tv/p2.xml" it loads all the EPG info.
If I download the same file and try to access it locally, the source is NONE.

FYI: I don't plan on using the P2.xml, I have a custom one I will use.
I just wanted to prove whether or not it can be done.

Does your local file have channel ids that match the "tvg-id" specified in the m3u? These are used for doing the mapping. If they don't match, then the channel is left mapped to None.

As I said, if I put "http://vaders.tv/p2.xml" in the Guide Source URL field, it works fine.
If I first download that file and try a local connection in the Guide Source URL field I get NONE.
I assume it's the same file?

there is any way to add a local M3U file. my M3U link has over 7000 channels i can cut the list down to 800 channels with my channel editor ..but how do i insert my list after is edited.
any ideas please. some times kodi crash do to many channels and vod's

You should just be able to use a url like:
file://c:/somewhere/my.m3u
