What physical channel does WinTV say channel 61 is on? https://www.rabbitears.info/market.php?r...ty_id=7143 shows it on both channel 27 and 49 (which you used) so there might have been move

first up ... Martin's note ... yep, NPVR used 49, but my Hauppauge tuners scanned 27. Why would NPVR use/map a channel different from the one the tuner cards mapped?? I have just now manually changed NPVR to channel 27 and will start a recording test shortly. I am willing to bet that Martin is correct ... and if so, would bet that in the past 12 months that 61 moved to channel 27, and the tuner cards were updated to 27 from 49 when I updated WinTV8.5, but that NPVR, which I never scanned channels to because NPVR has always used the tuner settings ... did not automatically update to 27. That is, I am thinking that NPVR needs a patch to update itself automatically to the tuner card settings so this event does not occur again.

Second up, i manually recorded izombie using WinTV8.5 and it recorded without error. I also have your capture.ts file but am pretty sure you don't need it now. Anyway, I do not subscribed to the dropbox or onedrive tools so I would need a way to upload it to your site.

will post testing result shortly ...

That is the solution ... will there be a patch forthcoming?

Did you follow sub's advise https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...post534761 to delete the channel and readd it?

Hi Martin,

There was the communication problem ... I did follow his advice using the WinTV8.5 Hauppauge software because I am using their tuners and I assumed that NPVR was slaving from Hauppauge tuner card info, but that was not what admin was referring to. Admin wanted me to delete the NPVR channel and re-scan it. Now I get it. I have to rescan both the tuner cards and the NPVR software.

But my question is still, since NPVR uses other tuner cards (none of their own) why does NPVR not slave off of the tuner card software?

NextPVR doesn't know anything about the channels in the Hauppauge software. Deleting the channel in NextPVR and rescanning should have fixed up any tuning changes for that channel.

The vast majority of people these days are using modern digital or network tuner. If you're using one of these, then it doesn't need any Hauppauge software. In your case it looks like you're using a digital tuner...so no Hauppauge software required.

The only case it'll use anything from the Hauppauge software is if you're using an old analog tuner, then it'll reuse the MPEG-2 Video Encoder / multiplexer components (which are developed by MainConcept, but happen to be included with Hauppauge and other software). It was easier to reuse these for analog, than develop my own. I had originally intended to not include analog support in NextPVR, but there was still quite a few people with old Hauppauge analog device, so this seemed a reasonable compromise.

Most people aren't using the crappy software that comes with their tuner, or their tuner came with no software. It'd be dumb to force them to use some other software for scanning channels, and try to make NextPVR know how to extract channel information from the various apps they supply with their cards (and get broken each time that manufacturer changes stuff). If that were the case - they might as well just use that software.

Hi Admin, and Martin,

Re-Scanned all channels today using NPVR. Have one issue that I see ... channel 61.1 thru 61.4 are each duplicated ... they each have a different name, but each has the same Freq 27. the first instance of 61.1 is KSAWDT, and the second instance is KSAWHD. 61.4 first instance is KSAWDT3, and the second instance is GRIT (or maybe it is ESCAPE). One sest says its source is Schedule Direct, and the other says the source is an ATSC something or other.

What might be going on here?

Thanks,
'

It's not unheard of for them to have a highdef verson and standard def version transmitting at the same time, like this 61.1 and 61.4. If you don't want one of them, you can just delete it.

Any new channels found after an ATSC scan will initially have it's EPG source set to DVB/ATSC EPG. You can go into the properties for the channel and map it to Schedules Direct.
