Hi I am new to Linux but managed to get Nextpvr up and running on Mint 19x. (Kodi 18.3)

All working great other than I don't seem to be be able to populate the EPG (over the air EPG)

The below error seems to just keep repeating and I end up with no listings:

[36] Unexpected error getting dynamic event list: System.InvalidCastException: Unable to cast object of type 'NShared.HDHomeRunRecorder' to type 'NShared.LocalRecorder'.
at NShared.DVBEPGSource.UpdateEPG(IEPGUpdateCallback callback)

any advise would be great :o)

Please see below the output from the terminal:

Does installing apt install hdhomerun-config help? I can't test much here because NextPVR doesn't get an EPG from my ATSC device.

I have the hdhomerun-config installed. I have a mixture of hdhomerun tuners couple of older ones and a recent model. (6 tuners all up)
Have been using Nextpvr for many years on Windows but would love to get a PVR happening with Linux.

It looks like a problem with the HDHomeRunRecorder device which I thought sub skipped during setup. Does it work if you turn it off?

Unfortunately the streams that come from an HDHR don't include the DVB guide data. This is why it doesn't give you the 'DVB EPG' guide option one the screen where you import channels from the HDHR. With NextPVR you can only currently get the guide data from an HDHR device on Windows (when they're using BDA drivers). For your setup you'd need to use xmltv or icetv or something for that.

The app has all the code for processing the EPG from this type of stream (because it does it with other devices like DVB and SAT>IP devices etc), but we can't get this specific stream from an HDHR. SiliconDust's focus for guide data has been licensing data from online service for use in their own applications rather than grabbing it from the stream (probably because they have shitty broadcast EPG in the US, so it's just not worth the effort there)... I have messaged SiliconDust to ask if there is any alternative way to get this stream of data, but haven't heard back yet.

Thank you for your reply, yes I have been using the Australian OTA EPG for years without a drama. Yes with HDHR and Plex recently dropping the OTA Guide guess Ill have to eventually "Sign Up" for a service if I wish to upgrade or change the way I currently use my PVR.

Happy to stick with Windows for now and the OTA EPG :o).

Thank you for your resolution, I might have gone on trying to tinker with this not knowing I would just spend hours getting nowhere! :o)

Have you heard back from them yet?

Getting the OTA EPG is the only thing holding me back from making the switch to NextPVR.

If you don't mind paying a cup of coffee a month I think you will find the Schedules Direct option really worthwhile, great integration, metadata and art work

Unfortunately no, not a peep.

I've got a backup plan in mind, for another way I can investigate getting the EPG without their help.
