My EPG fixed itself on July 18. Was fully prepared to do what you described but didn't need to.

By any chance are you on Fios? I have a WMC setup going too and also got a weird glitch in that data this week. TheGreenButton forums seemed to indicate the guide data problem only occurred with certain Fios areas.
