I am trying to avoid installing the runtime and tying in to sub's framework. When you ran did you have the environment variable set,?

Ok. Yes I ran SET DOTNET_ROOT="C:\Program Files\NPVR from a CMD prompt, then start /b "" "C:\Users\Public\NPVR-data\Plugins\NextEnd\NextEnd.exe" --monitor

Ok thanks for testing and glad you got it started. I will do some more research and testing on machines without the runtime. At least it reuses the the required non core files.

As a V4 NextEnd user, I'd like to get the V5 version working also. I'm trying to follow this thread but it has raised a few questions:

My V5 NextPVR binaries are in "c:\Program Files (x86)\NPVRV5". I've changed "NextEnd.runtimeconfig.json" to replace the line "D:\\V5\\programs\" with "c:\\Program Files (x86)\\NPVRV5\". Is this correct?
After copying "hostfxr.dll" into "c:\Users\Public\NPVR-Data\Plugins\NextEnd", I get the same error as VCR58 indicating that I need to download .NET Core 2.2.

Going to the Microsoft site, I'm presented with a myriad of download choices! Do I download the 64- or 32-bit runtime? I'm running 64-bit Win10 but the V5 binaries are in the 32-bit Program Files folder.

Can you help?

Thanks.
Later...JohnC

@JohnC V5 is a 64 bit app so technically you have it in the wrong folder you need two back slashes at the end in runtime json and and also that environment setting. I suspect unzipping with NextPVR will also work. I need to test later. All else failing install the ,64 but runtime

If you choose the 64 bit runtime it will install both 64 bit and 32 bit. At least it did for me.

Thanks to both. Moving V5 to the correct folder should be easy. But...concerning the download, do I need both .NET and ASP.net?

I did some more testing and it appears if you install NextPVR.exe and the dll's in the zip with sub's package, it will work without a dotnet if you don't copy the json files.

@jcole998 NextEnd doesn't need ASP.net but you shouldn't need the runtime if you do the above step.

Thanks, Martin. Saw your post after installing dotnet. dotnet installation cured the errors and entries is the NextEnd.log file look just fine so I think I'm past that problem. Extra steps can introduce unwanted errors if I don't follow them correctly so I'll skip them for now. Might be a fall-back just in case. Does NextEnd monitor NASACAR as it has done in the past for V4?

Thanks again.

This version of NextEnd is just a v4 port so it should work the same and uses the same server with the same response handling.

This version isn't very great at logging because it rolls with every recording. I was hoping that sub would have time to add log feature to toggle logging but that didn't make it to this past beta.
