Using ParallelProcessing, NextEnd works and also comskip, but seemingly not both together.

It's been a while since I tried this but I think if I have the script for NextEnd listed first and Comskip script on the next line only Nextend runs. In the logs I can tell Comskip never runs.

Ideally I would like to use both NextEnd and Comskip for watching in-progress recordings (like an MLB game) delayed.

Is it even possible to run both at the same time? If so, any advice on how to do this?

Thanks

I don't see any reason they wouldn't work together, however you would need to make sure NextEnd was running asynchronously. The wiki shows the example for Windows start /b the equivalent for Linux would be adding a trailing & (ampersand)

Thanks Martin, the asynchronous bit was what I was missing.

I couldn't get this to work.

Nextend worked fine but comskip only produced an empty edl file.

Comskip runs fine in PostProcessing though so I'm giving up trying to run comskip in ParallelProcessing. Easier just to skip past the commercials watching in-progress.

Did you make sure comskip.ini is set for parallel processing?

Yes.

For parallel processing Live_TV=1 is what I have in comskip.ini.

Ok the comskip log file would probably explain what is going on, should you wish to pursue this.

Started a recording and watched the .log file and the .edl file. As far as I could tell from the log file comskip was doing it's thing but the edl file was not retaining and data written to it (if any). The edl file was changing according to notepad++ but whatever was written to the edl file immediately was cleared or comskip was just writing null to it.

The files in that folder are all read/write so I don't think it's a permissions issue. Still a mystery.

My NextPVR Windows server doesn't have comskip on it currently. I may try to get comskip running on it and see if it will work.

I just did a test and enabled comskip in parallel processing on Linux and it worked for me. Maybe you have one in Post Processing that was overwriting it?

Thanks for checking.

It started working now and finally wrote some comercial times in the .edl file in parallel processing mode. Not sure what was wrong before. It's possible it doesn't like starting in the middle of a show. Also changed comskp.ini to basic settings except I changed "verbose" to 10.
