Hello, recently I posted issues changing channels with Colossus card using STB and IR Blasting and DVB-T channels, and the audio issues I was encountering.
Specifically, upon changing channels from Colossus STB sources with different audio parameters OR from Colossus STB channel to DVB-T channel with different audio parameters..... that Nextpvr would throw up a decoder error stating that a particular codec like AC3 or AAC was not installed. (when they are)
After lots of testing, I thought I would post an update.
So, basically I have things working pretty good, with channel changing working reliably between Colossus STB channels and DVB-T channels.
It was suggested that I needed to have an IR blasting script, to add a delay. After much testing, in my configuration, this seems to make little or no difference whatsoever, to the decoder errors that Nextpvr throws up when doing the above.
Here is what I have observed. The decoder error (loss of audio) ONLY occurs when using the mini guide (whats on now) gui menu.
(ie. when a channel is currently playing, and you press cursor up/down button to bring up the mini guide to select and change to a different channel.)
When changing to a channel (either STB or DVB-T that contains different audio parameters, Next PVR throws up a decoder error such as no AAC or AC3 decoder configured.
However, if I don't use the mini guide, and instead use the full guide to select a channel, and then STOP playback before changing to a different channel (even one with different audio parameters), then it works perfect every single time.
In a different thread, Sub said that he was considering a feature to allow the stream to stop before changing channels, to aid Colossus/HDPVR users, which currently it does not, for reasons of channel changing speed. I surmise this mini-guide channel changing from active to another channel is what Sub is meaning?.
Is there a way to stop playback of active channel when in the mini guide onscreen?.
It is this feature that is causing Nextpvr to throw up decoder errors/loss of audio when changing channels.
The work around is NOT to use the mini guide to change active channels, and to just use main guide, and stop playback before changing channels.
Now the odd thing, is that if I use the legacy/MS Demux option in settings, then the mini-guide channel changing works perfect.
However, media playback and skipping thru recordings/videos etc is 'not a great experience'.
Disabling the Legacy/MS Demux gives good media playback, but completely smegs up the mini-guide channel changing reliability.
Okay, that's my update.
