Hi,

First time user of NextPVR and I thought i go straight ahead and start with v5!
But unfortunately I'm unable to install it on my TV-server running Windows 7 32-bit. I successfully installed it on my main PC running Windows 10 64-bit but then again I do not have any TV-cards installed on that machine. My question is, is Win7 and/or 32-bit Windows not supported or am missing something else?

This is the message I get when executing NextPVRServer.exe:

The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.

Another user mentioned this, but I haven't had a chance to check it out (no 32 bit machines here currently).

In theory it should be able to work on either. I suspect it's just part of the packaging process I'm doing. ie, nothing should be 64bit specific.

Thanks for the reply! Would be great if you could look into this because I do not see myself being able to go to 64-bit om my TV-server in the foreseeable future. I'm willing to test once you have something to test.

By the way the client (NextPVR.exe) works on 32-bit.

I think you might be able to do it manually

1. download and install the dotnet 2.2 runtime
2. download and unzip the linux version of v5
3. download the windows version of v5 and unzip over the linux version but don't replace files

from the folder run

dotnet NextPVRServer.dll

I did as you suggested but now DeviceHostWindows.exe is crashing during startup, below is an excerpt from the console window:

Code:
...

cted end of file has occurred. The following elements are not closed: devices. L

Any ideas? Still feels like the easiest would be to just build a new Windows version that not only targets x64 but x86 as well.

If you run DeviceHostWindows -discover from the command line does it crash?

Easy is relative NextPVR is a free program and everyone wants sub to do have different priorities. Windows 7 is EOL in 3 months, I wonder how many Win 10 upgrades will be to 32bit?

Yes, it still crashes, this is the output:
Code:
Unhandled Exception: System.BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or asse
mbly 'Unmanaged.dll' or one of its dependencies.  is not a valid Win32 applicati
on. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800700C1)

   at DeviceHostWindows.Discover.FindAllDevices()
   at DeviceHostWindows.Program.Run(String[] args)
   at DeviceHostWindows.Program.Main(String[] args)

Thank you for looking into this, it wasn't my intention to demand you doing anything. Just eager to test this out!

I know Windows 7 is coming to an end and I've also been thinking about how to proceed. I will eventually upgrade my TV-Server to Windows 10, BUT I will have to stay on 32-bit because I have drivers that are not signed by Microsoft and therefore not allowed on 64-bit, so yeah I might be one of the few people running Windows 10 on 32-bit. But still as Sub hinted there shouldn't be anything in code that prevents NextPVR on 32-bit but rather it's a setting for the compiler. Hopefully you can find the time and a fix for this for the next beta build.

Thank you and keep up the good work!

If you copy the *.dll from C:\Programs Files (x86)\dotnet\shared\2.2.7 to the NextPVR folder does that change how DeviceHostWindows works?

Yes, now I was able to start the server and my two dvb-c cards showed up. I made a custom ini file with tuning parameters and did a simple scan and it found the expected channels. But when I try to watch a channel from the web ui I get this error:

Code:

Now I'm not sure anymore if this has something todo with all the stuff I've done in order to get the server running or if it's something else?

By the way, is NextPVR open source or not?

Does ffmpeg.exe exist? It should have been installed by the Windows unzip but maybe you skipped it.

NextPVR is not open source.
