Watching Show in knewc 2.7.4 that is recording always jumps out

I will look at using the pvr recordings option in a future update of knewc. The Kodi addon is much snappier with v5 because channel list loads much faster and with comskip support without the share it would be nice.

Sorry for the timeshift discussion confusion, it was simply because it only happened watching in progress recordings (in knewc). OK so with the 3.3.15 PVR addon I should just watch recordings from the TV option in Kodi and forgo knewc altogether? Hmm...that might cause a bit of family consternation, that beloved blue GBRPVR/NextPVR/XNEWA/KnewC interface we have been using since 2005 or so would be hard to let go of. 

Be great for us if you could manage to keep knewc as the GUI and whatever happens in the background that I'd need to configure I will do. 

I am not up with the play on v5 status but if I was to get this going on the server, will knewc work with v5 as well as comskip and is it likely to improved watching in progress recordings in knewc?

I had a quick try earlier and I might be able to hook into the pvr player but it doesn't look like comskp will be supported so maybe not worth a lot of effort.

knewc relies on Kodi so it doesn't matter much whether you use v4 or v5. No change is expected in the recording playback logic from this point on.

Cheers Martin look forward to that update. Kodi probably wouldn’t allow two instances of knewc for a port 8866 vs 8867 trial I guess. I can forgo Comskip temporarily as I’d imagine / hope it would eventually get addressed.

The kodi logs look like a knewc session with no pvr.nextpvr log messages at all not even failing to load.  You need to play the file in the pvr addon.  Also you cannot play immediately you have to wait until the file is bigger than any buffer so perhaps 30 to 60 seconds.

OK, so I ran it again with v5 as backend, same setup on the TV but using knewc with port 8867. I then disabled the NextPVR Addon and just ran knewc via 8867 (v5). Same issue with jumping out while trying to watch an in-progress recording, so does not seem to be version related.

It is repeatable.

1. From Kodi go into knewc (NextPVR) addon 2.7.4
2. Go to guide, select quick record.
3. From Guide (but same from Recordings) select show and press play.
4. Show plays briefly but jumps out after a few seconds, back to TV Guide or recordings menu.
5. Go back in again and hit resume. Jumps out.
6. Go back in again, hit play, plays OK, but then catch up to almost real time (within 30s secs or so) ...jumps out.

[EDIT] Would the buffer memory (shown in the pastebin) that I have allocated for Kodi in advancedsettings.xml affect this?
Given only 2GB RAM https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/f6691159 on TV, could this be a factor?

Since you are playing from a share Kodi isn't even talking to NextPVR for playback, so the version would have no impact on how your Kodi client is playing. You should see the same behaviour from the Video Library.

I don't know why Kodi is not able to play a growing file from the filesystem, that would be a Kodi forum request (it is not even PVR related)

To get any chance of a reply I would repost with a log of playback from the video library of a growing recording Don't even touch knewc in the log since it to won't be understood

OK. Where should I see the growing recording btw? I am a bit confused as to why I have not seen a file in my designated (and shared) D:\GBPVRiveTVBuffer directory.

The growing file is the recording itself. Z:/NPVRVids/Rugby World Cup 2019 E42/Rugby World Cup 2019 E42_20191020_12301430.ts

You could even install Kodi for Windows on your host PC and play the file directly not from a share and see if the experience a Kodi issue or more Android.
