I want to switch most of my channels' EPG source from xmltv to Schedules Direct. I couldn't figure out a way to highlight the channels I want to change and update them all at the same time. Is it possible to do this? Doing it one channel at a time would be tedious so I'm probably missing something here.

You can generally use the 'Bulk Map' screen for doing this.

You manually change the first channel, and it'll ask you if you'd like it to have a go at mapping the rest automatically. It can only do this when it can find a name and/or channel number match though. For those that can't be matched automatically, you'll need to do them manually.

Yes, I tried this and it didn't find any matches. Thanks.

At the end of the day, NextPVR can't work miracles - if your current channel names don't match the names in schedules direct, NextPVR will have no way to know they're the same channel.

Yeah that's what I figured. Too many variables to compensate for. C'est la vie.

The only difference between the names in the vast majority of channels is a dash between the number and the name. How hard would that be to compensate for?

You'd be surprised - there is already lots of little rules like this, to accommodate some of the differences that often occur. When looking for matches it does stuff like removing all the spaces, uppercasing everything, switching numbers for words (ie "3" and "three" etc). ie "BBC 1" "BBC1" "BBC One" etc. In theory I could add some more rules to try to accommodate dashes as well. Development has moved on to v5 though, which already has better automapping rules. I'm not that keen on going back to v4 to try making these changes.

Sounds reasonable. I don't anticipate doing it very often. It would be nice if you could squeeze it into v5 though, since it would save about 100 manual edits in my case. Any guesses as to when v5 will move out of beta?

If you can upload your database on the cloud with your zip code I can see what I can do. I am all for people going to SD from zap2it so maybe a utility would be useful for others.

It largely is. I'll probably drop 'beta' from the name in the next few weeks.
