This should try longer, giving you a chance to get the file. It'll also be interesting to hear if it plays in VLC.

In VLC the channel plays well but the temp file is created and deleted pretty quickly, channel plays temp file is created gets to about 3 mb and then gets deleted before a new file is created.
Ok - so it continues to play well in VLC? If so, then it's possibly just a Kodi bug.

Regarding how quick it creates a new file, on the Setting->General screen, what is the Minutes setting set to?
Yeah it plays ok in VLC, although you can see it stuttering for a frame or two when the file gets deleted and a new one created.

The minute setting is at 20, i haven't changed that. I also rescanned the two receivers and it seems to still be doing the same on those channels.

If it were a Kodi bug would it not be across all of the channels rather than just these two on these receivers?
do the files last longer on other channels? With a 20 minute buffer they should be there a lot longer.

One of the things I did was updated the LAV decoders.  I was on .68 and went to .74.1 (downloaded from GIT)

I changed a few settings too, most notably, and the thing I think that helped, is turning on Hardware Acceleration, to DXVA2 (copy-back) and selecting the Graphics card to attach to.

Yes on other channels they do not get deleted so quickly, they just get bigger and I can watch them in VLC.

Will I try and get a Kodi debug log?

Ok, I'll probably need to see some NextPVR logs.

Restart NextPVR to reset the logs, then start on one of the problem channels in VLC, give it about 30 seconds, then stop. Then start one of the good channels in VLC, and give it about 30 seconds, then post the logs.

I think sub meant the second test to be with Kodi.

No - just interested in VLC at this stage. I wanted to see what the difference was between the two channels that may account for one making small live tv slip files, and the other making normal length slip files.

I wonder if it is related to this problem https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid533577 where it only plays one rolling file.

I was going to say 'no, unrelated', but you never know. Hopefully the logs will give some further clues

Log files as requested, this time RTE1 channel 101 didn't actually play at all, I could see the temporary file being created repeatedly but nothing played in VLC, Virgin Media 1 on channel 104 using the same tuner played fine and created only one file that kept growing.
