New to NextPVR this year (former WMC).  This happened a few weeks ago, and again last night.  Both times earlier shows in day recorded fine, then during recording of some shows this happened.

One possibility, I MAY have tried to put the system in Sleep, because the shows were over, but perhaps still recording due to the time buffer I have on them.  WMC wouldn't go into Sleep if something was recording.  It does appear that both shows recorded, but then were abruptly ended before the end of the recording.

Is there a way to stop the computer from going into Sleep mode if I accidentally or intentionally pushes the button on the remote?

Is there anything I can do to display the status of the recording service at all times?  Or, if it craps out to restart it automatically?

Thanks.

You'd need to upload your NextPVR logs to show the problem. I also suggest all new users go to v5 rather then starting with a dead version.

Green button support is more the OS level.

There is a tray app for the server and also a Windows gadget that shows the status on any PC

I did not install 5 because it says pretty clearly on release notes, dated 6/14/19, "For the average user, wanting a stable release, we'd recommend sticking with NextPVR v4.2.4.  I didn't easily see that there was a non-beta release of 5 that was called STABLE.  I do not want to be using any Beta software with issues, I would rather stay back on stable releases that have no issues.

As for sleep mode, with WMC if I tried to put the PC into sleep mode whether by remote or keyboard, WMC would override that.  Had nothing to do with a button's function.

I will look for the tray app, but I was more looking for a warning that might display if it stopped, and an automatic attempted restart.

I have the tray app.  It does not show if the service is running, it lets me restart it.  The status shows me my tuners, I don't need to see them, that tells me nothing.

That's a very old post. I've now gone an removed that paragraph from a couple of June 2019 posts...

v5 is every bit as stable as v4 was at this stage. The builds still are stored in the 'beta' directory on the web server, but otherwise they can just be considered the current release of NextPVR. I'd remove the word 'beta' in most places a couple of months back.

Thanks for that info.

I went with NPVR in a quick move as WMC was ending, so I didn't read through lots of posts to try and figure that out.

Is there documentation of the steps to follow to upgrade from 4 to 5 smoothly?  And how does one know which version of 5 is stable, vs. which version is beta?  I am not looking for bells and whistles - I record OTA shows and use time shifting.  I have not yet integrated with Plex, and don't currently watch shows across multiple devices, nor remotely.  Simple record shows, watch them, then delete.

I do have a pile of WMC shows that ideally I could bring into NPVR, but was hesitant to use the tools I found that seemed to not be widely used, how does one know they are clean?

Thx.

If you're a new user, you'd be better off just doing a fresh install. Behind the scenes it's pretty much a new application. That said, you can just copy your existing npvr.db3 in if you need to retain your existing channel and recordings.

All the public builds are the current 'stable build'. We have a different set of pre-release builds that are using for testing.

I would want to retain channels, recordings, and scheduled recordings. Are those all in NPVR.db3?

Are you sure?  There should be a change when the service is off.

Well, let me restate. It does not tell me it is running...  Since the two times it was not running the TV was off, and I did nothing to restart it, I don't know what it shows.
