Hi Sub,

I had time to day and looked again at v5 - Version: 5.0.2.200322 - and came across some huge problems with the DVBC tuning.  I have two tuner cards from Digital Devices, one with four tuners and one with two - and currently only the add-on tuners for the 4x card are working. The other tuners throw BDA graph errors when trying to scan.

Note the whole setup works fine under v4

Successful tuning:

I've tried registry cleaning as well as de-installing and re-installing all of the tuner drivers, but no luck.

Any help is appreciated, logs attached.

Do you have the logs for it working on v4 on the same machine?

Perhaps - however does not explain why the v4 enumeration works fine, and on v5 I can only access 2 out of 6 tuners.  Also, I re-installed the cards around 3pm and it's possible the numbers got changed.  For me - either all 6 tuners are not working on v5 - and the failure mode is consistent. But only 4 out of 6 where the backend has to "force" the use of a non-existing source?

I don't even see the filter entry v5 is trying to call in GraphEdit, which is confusing as there's some enumeration step when starting up the tuner to scan for channels which fails.

Are you running the most recently DigitalDevices drivers?

Basically there was always something screwy with DigitalDevice's "pin mediums", which is the normal way to detect which tuners go with which capture filters. Because of this, there was some hard coded rules put in v4 a very long time ago to make it work for DigitalDevices device, based on the names. More recently, I'd had a few users point out this wasn't working for them, because their DigitalDevices device now had different names...so I changed the hardcoded rules, to use the new names. (which sounds like it broke yours at the time)

I'm hoping you'll just install the lastest drivers, and it'll be using the same names as these other users, and it'll start working.

Hi Sub,

I've got 3.0.3.224 from April 2019 - latest are 3.1.1.248 from March 2020.

I will update the drivers and get back to you.

Thanks for the explanation - just interesting as to why two of the tuners (the ones I added last) are okay but the other four are borked. I will uninstall, clean registry, and reinstall drivers in the next day or three.

Regards,
Dane

Actually, I didn't remember quite right, but I was close....

As mentioned, the pin mediums didn't work with Digital Devices, so a long time back I put in some hardcoded rules based on the filter names. When those recent users pointed out it no longer worked for them, and I could see there filter names were wrong, I give them a test build which disabled those rules (in effect going back to pin mediums for these devices), and it worked...so I left the app that way. Hopefully those newer drivers will fix the pin mediums for you too, and whatever names they're now using will just work.

Why would two of the tuners work? I don't know. Maybe they previously only had the pin medium working on some tuners.

Hi Sub,

unfortunately latest drivers installed and no luck - same problem as before with tuners 1/2 not working and 5/6 okay.

Attached are logs from this morning's scan.

Is there any way I can dump the BDA pin data for you from the cards I have?

Thanks,
 Dane
