whats new (well from the alpha)
- "Save Image", you can now save webimages to a specified dir.
- "Navigational Transistions" - similar to mediaportal (just look and see, you can turn this off in the "settings" feature)
- animated gifs
- zooming works perfect (thanks to smeghead) and theres a little navigational graphic in the corner (similar to xbmc) (yes i rip things off.....)
- music track info in fullscreen mode, display the current music track (if onscreen display is turned on, or when a track changes (for about ten seconds)).
- KeyMappings is used to specify the keys used in my pictures.
- Popup menu in "Fullscreen" mode, (where you can find the "save image" feature)
- "music" added to popup menu, which listed every .m3u playlist in a specified directory, also if a .jpg/png/gif file with the same name is found that will be displayed
- rewrote the entire thing

whats not done
- the skin needs to be tweaked, especially the onscreen display stuff (the fullscreen stuff).
- i think thats it

im pretty sure this version is pretty good, and shouldnt have to many bugs in it (hopefully ive included all the files you need, if upgrading from 2.1 or 3.0 alpha).

if anyone wants to tweak the blue skin for me that would be great, i hate doing skin stuff.

WARNING: you may need my music for this to work (maybe), you will definitly need the MyDatabase.mdb file, the mypictures.mdb file will no longer work (it looks up track information, thus needing the music tables).

also any newbies shouldnt try this straight away, give it a week, chances are there bugs. (theres one i know of, but its a really small one that will hardly be noticed (like maybe twice in your lifetime)).

so yeah enjoy.

oh ps chances are nothing will be changed in the skin, well anywhere, just bug testing now, so if you want to update your skins go ahead.

oh and can you guys tell me how the navigational transisitions look on your machines (not the MVP, that just wont work), and your system specs, they run fine on my 2.6ghz (but i suppose that is kind of fast still....).

oh and tell me if you need my music (im to lazy to delete it, well remove every part of it).

and if you dont like the music playlist popup, i may consider adding a "Music" button to the keycommands file, so then you could assign the "Music" button on your remote to bring up the menu list (which may make sense), or to any button you wish, thanks to subs new and improved remote key thingy.

Does this currently only work with the default blue skin or is there a BlueMCE2 skin for it as well? (I use BlueMCE2 exclusively now...)

i am working on the skin and facing a large number of things that must be changed. so you'll have to wait a few days.... in the meantime copy the my pictures and my series - folder from the blue skin to the bluemce2-folder.

reven, i found a little bug: pressing home opens the popup-menu (as defined in the keymappings-xml). pressing it again goes back to the main-menu. when i reenter my pictures and press home i go directly to the main menu.

you should change the keys: normaly the menu-button (home) goes to the main menu and the go-button (f11) opens the popup-menu. yes, i know, everyone can define it in the xml-files but.......you know, lazy users ;-)

edit: i forgot to mention, that the transitions look really great! hope, they work on my htpc too, there's just a p4 1.6 installed.... nice plugin, good work!

hmm, i prefer home to take you home (theres a home graphic on the new remote, so it makes sense), and menu to bring up the menu. doesnt that make sense, or is it just me?

i had a think about this, and tried it out, its not a bug exactly, its how gbpvr works. if a plugin doesnt process the keystroke, in this case it doesnt since pushing the "popup menu" key on the side menu doesnt result in any action taken place, gbpvr then begins to process the keystroke, and gbpvr returns you to the main menu.

this is how the "music", "videos" etc shortcut keys work. i could add a check into the keystroke method to ensure if any of the keys that my pictures use anywhere is pushed it tells gbpvr that it handled that key stroke internall, so gbpvr wouldnt process it.

danka - whats your system specs? im curious how this performs on the majority of peoples machines.

When I run the random slideshow from the PC interface it works as I expect, i.e. there is random slideshow of pics from the folders where I start the slideshow from. When I try the same thing using the MVP the first pic is displayed and no slideshow happens. I experienced the same behavior in MyPictures3Alpha5. (Plunk me on the head, I got too busy and forgot to report this). MyPictures3Alpha4.1 worked as expected.

My pic folder structure is organized by year, with subfolders for each month. Some of the month subfolders have special event subfolders. I typically navigate to a year folder and initiate the random slideshow.

is the slideshow transistions turned off?

also how long does it take to enter fullscreen? if there are many folders with many files it may take awhile and the mvp does not like to wait.

The autotransition is blue, I assume that is off. The pic duration is set to 4 seconds.

Had to wait for the spouse to finish with the TV to measure the times Smile In random mode it takes about 5-6 seconds to enter full screen with the first pic. After that it stops. With the sequential slide show, the first pic shows up as a black image and then the next pic is displayed in 6-7 seconds and everthing progresses normally from there.

For the folder 2005, I have one subfolder for each month, Jan thru Sept. Each month subfolder has pics and at most 4 subfolders with pics. For all of 2005 and its subfolders there might be 2000 pics.

BTW: Don't know if this is relevent, but mixed in with the pics starting in 2005 there are short quicktime movies from our new camera. I observe the same behavior for the 2004 folder and there are no quicktime movies in the folder 2004 or any of its subfolders.

I need to checkout for the evening. 0430 is not far off. Thanks for the help. I check back tomorrow to see if you need any further info.
