I was thinking it was a signal issue but now I know it isn't because... The show I had on record, which only created a zero size file, I could actually watch it on live tv so if the signal was bad, live tv wouldn't even work. I get every scanned channel to show on live tv so the issue is truly tied to the recording or NextPvR.
Supply logs showing live tv and recording on the same channel, and we'll take a look. We'll at least be able to compare the two, and tell you what is different.
When you post the logs, tell us what the channel was, and what time you tried live tv, and what time it recorded.
One of you tuners has bad driver and hasn't worked in a month. Recordings and live TV use different priority. Use the arrows to move them around on the setup screen and see if live tv works.

Yeah the Hauppauge Turner has been acting funky lately, which is why I disabled it long ago. Just now, I even deleted it from the devices list. My second turner is the one that's pulling the work load. Again, if I run Total Media 3.5, I can watch live tv and record shows. The only reasons I don't like Total Media 3.5 is "A"....you can't get a tv guide that's weeks ahead and "B"....you have to have Total Media Program open in order for recordings to work; in other words...Total Media doesn't record in the background with the program closed the way WMC or NextPvR did.
I guess I have to go back to Total Media which sucks "azz" because I can only see shows several hours ahead of time, which means I'll have to look at the tv guide on NextPvR just to remind myself of shows I want to record but can't actual setup the recording until several hours before the show. Might as well mention how Total Media's Recording is too simple. It's based on time, station and rather or not you want to record daily, weekly, etc.
NextPvR will record the show on the station when ever it's on and that's what I wanted.
This isn't the first time NextPvR did this to me. I think what I did before was clean out the scheduling...I deleted every show and then rebuild the list. I don't think that'll work this time although I might as well try it again.
If you're saying live tv is working, but recordings aren't, supply logs showing live tv and recording on the same channel, and we'll take a look. We'll at least be able to compare the two, and have a good chance at finding the cause of the problem.
Live TV is just a type of recording, so if you're using the same hardware, and same channel, it'll be able to record.
(your logs may tell us a different tuner is being used for recordings etc, and we should be able to tell you what to do to fix - like removing the faulty device etc)
Hi, I just wanted to post this error when clicking in tv guide because I see it a lot now. I have to close NextPvR and reopen to clean this up. How it happens....usually when I go from live tv back to the tv guide screen.
See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.
Anyway, I cleaned out my scheduling and set things to record by new/season this time instead of all/re-occurring. I'm going to see if this cleanup work again. I already noticed something... When going to live tv, it starts showing right away....instead of like before where I had to change a channel before.
I think recording has some kind of "deep bug" in the source code but I'll report back in 1 to several days.
Oh....I tried a quick recording after I dump out my scheduling and recording worked again.....so ...... see what I mean..... I my shows suddenly start to record now, then I can definitely say the issue is in the scheduling.

Realistically, it's unlikely I'd look into this in v4. Is there any reason you're not using the current v5?
For the most part with v4, the only support you're really getting is diagnostic stuff. ie, we'll look at logs, and advise if recordings aren't working because of x (like faulty tuner, or permissions error etc). If there were real bugs in NextPVR, not this type of environmental stuff, and it needed fixes, those fixes are only going to happen in v5.
