Yeah I can't turn hardware decoding on. It still crashses, but the buffering doesn't happen for every channel and I can't seem to find a pattern. Wondering if I can update my graphic card to get hardware decoding working.
Normally Kodi will do h/w decoding even on basic video cards. Can't say what the issue you are having. You might have look turning off h/w deinterlacing it won't be perfect. It might be worth trying a 1080i channel with ffplay.
Regarding a new card that will depend on how and what you want to view. Kodi runs on devices that are cheaper then most graphic cards and if you ever want hevc that might an alternative. If you want just your HDHR broadcasts you can probably get a suitable card on kijiji or ebay.
Still looking into how to update my video card if its even possible, but I did find something interesting. Changing the setting in Kodi to use real-time instead of extended time shift i don't have any buffer issues. Weird right? Is it possible it starts realtime and then switches to a different files to show the TV channel?
I don't understand your question. For the buffering in timeshift consider increasing the pre buffer a little and playing around with the chuck size that is all you can control.

Sorry, i guess my question was there seems to be something that changes when I use real time vs time shift. Are there any guides on tweaking these settings or is it trial and error?
