A bulit-in or plugin for MQTT control would be nice.  I use Openhab for home automation so MQTT will work nicely.  Is any one doing this in any way?

Not doing but thinking how I could do it...

I have a DVB-T2 modulator for external channels and have been thinking of a way to tune/ record the attached device (probably a Roku or maybe Fire4K, I'm limited by the devices the channel's app supports)

There's mention of Swagger API support, so I'm thinking the easiest may be to build this in Node-Red- then if you want MQTT it's easy from there.

I use Homeseer rather than HA and find things like this much easier in Node-Red as it breaks the code into GUI chunks- much easier for a non-programmer!

Interested if you get somewhere, I'm still trying finalise the core architecture for PVR, library, storage, guide, clients and necessary apps for channels before I cord cut in 3 months or so.

I have not seen this talked about.  Maybe this could be a way for Openhab to get info/control of Nextpvr?

I have been using Unraid for file storage for a few years like Nextpvr it never crashes up-times of month's sometime years.  Just in the last few months I have been trying IPTV with V5. I think it is going to be changing and needing fixes alot.

I don't fully understand your comment.  $15 per month IPTV is never going to be as stable as a tuner and you are right sub does have to keep on top of it but that is a fault of the grey area technology not v5 and it applies to v4 too.

Yes, that was not a good explanation.  I use OTA for most everything, just trying IPTV for some shows for WAF.  I totally agree that IPTV is never going to be close to a tuner.  I am close to needing to rebuilding the main box so I am trying out V5 on the Unraid server.  When it is ready "for me" I will upgrade the main box we use all the time. The main box is from 2010 Win 7  need to upgrade to win 10.

If you've got anything you want to report, I'm happy to look at it. For the most part, I'm guessing your problems are outside of NextPVR...

Streams from pirate IPTV services are notoriously unreliable. Often streams are there one day and gone the next, or MIA for a hours at a time, or hosted on servers without enough bandwidth for the number of people trying to watch them. I occasionally see comments that say 'I checked another IPTV client and it was fine', but that is often a quick look, often a different channel, or different times etc - not the same as needing to rely on stream to be available when it needs to record, and being available for the entire duration of the recording.

Here in NZ, our major broadcast channel are also available as IPTV streams, from the broadcasters themselves, on serious hosting platforms, and those streams work great by comparison.

Thanks for the answers in the thread. It is trying to find out how that works now and threads like this help me. Can you recommend some additional sources about these plugins? I have wanted to learn to create mqtt high availability for some time, and now I have learned. It’s not easy because I have never learned to be a programmer, but it’s easier for me to have a goal to pursue than just learn. I am just a beginner, but I hope that in some time, I will become better. I still have got three years until elementary school is over. I hope by that time. I will know more than I do now.
