On the 22nd of June several Channels will cease broadcasting and several more are changing mux to accommodate the permanent closure of COM8 on the 25th June - This is because of 700MHz clearance for 5G Mobile Coms.

From RXTV-Log https://www.rxtvlog.com

Channels that will cease to be available on Freeview
  • 55 5Star+1
  • 56 5USA+1
  • 67 CBS Reality+1
  • 69 CBS Justice+1
  • 109 Channel 4+1 HD
  • 110 4seven HD
  • 115 TJC HD
Channels moving multiplex
  • 64 FreeSports
  • 74 Shopping Quarter
  • 83 Now 80s
  • 89 Together+1
  • 93 PBS America+1
  • 96 Forces TV
  • 106 BBC Four HD
  • 111 QVC HD
  • 112 QVC Beauty HD
  • 114 Quest HD
  • 205 CBeebies HD
A re-tune will be required.

Shame they couldn't keep Channel 4+1 HD & 4seven HD rather than the 2 QVC HD channels - but money (and lack of it, at Channel 4) talks Cry
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

I'm so jealous of Freeview! Oodles of quality content for free.. Well and many other things for free that we don't have in America either Smile

We pay nearly £160 per home per year to the BBC ... A bargain but not quite free ... The Health Service is the free thing that we love the most.

And having a valid TV licence is a legal requirement.
Also if you are not into soaps or reality TV there is little left. I think my wife spends as much time on the program guide as she does watching TV - "Sigh - Nothing to watch again" - "What do you expect it's Television" Finally ends up on Challenge watching a repeat of The Chase or Bullseye (from the 1980's).  Sleepy

Oh true, the TV license fee. Honestly though, I'd much rather pay that than the exorbitant amount we pay to companies like Comcast here and get much less for it. NHS is what I was alluding to in my first post. Smile I'll never understand why we can't agree on such a basic human right to be provided to citizens here. Maybe it'll never happen either.

EPG flipping happens everywhere I guess. That's why we're all here in NextPVR land after all! Whenever I'm on a flight with in-seat entertainment (remember when we used to travel...) I ended up just watching whatever was remotely interesting and discovered things I never would have before. With an EPG, it's too easy to just zip past something you might have enjoyed if you had given it a chance. Too much choice can be paralyzing.
