My apologies if this is a dumb question but I want to make sure I understand things before moving to v5.
I have read as much as I can find relating to upgrading and also watched the videos Sub posted re setting up via the browser interface.  I have a very simple setup, an Intel NUC running native NPVR v4, receiving an OTA signal and feeding a single TV via HDMI.  I (and more importanly, the other half) really like the NPVR interface and feel no need to use Kodi or similar.
Nothing I have read really mentions the new Windows client and the videos show all the EPG display, setting recordings etc. being done in the browser.  Once setup, can all this be done, as now, in the client?  Does the client have the same look/feel/function as v4?  Once set up will we actually have to do anything differently?  Can I access the settings menu in the client?
Sorry again, if I have missed anything obvious but any help/advice gratefully received.  Thanks.

The easiest why to explain it is the settings options that you would get by right clicking on v4 are know done in the browser except for settings specific to the client like encoders and decoders. Anything you do via the normal NextPVR GUI will function will be done the same way.

The other big changes are there is no remote client (why Kodi is mentioned) and plugins aren't available (again Kodi more than files this void)

Thanks Martin, that's allayed a lot of my worries. I very rarely access the settings these days, don't use remote client and don't use plugins so it sounds very much "business as usual".
After Friday evening I don't have any recordings due until Sunday evening so I will upgrade on Saturday morning and have the weekend to address any issues.

I would stop the v4 recording service, install v5, stop the v5 service and copy your database and config.xml from C:\Users\Public\NPVR to C:\Users\Public\NPVR-data and then restart the v5 service, it might just work with a simple setup.

Thanks for that suggestion Martin. That's the route I'll take.
