I can't see how to scroll the guide in the future more than 3 hours ahead. Is there a way to do that? I thought the EPG was updated daily. How far ahead does it go, and can that be changed? I didn't see how to do that the first time I did an EPG update. I'm new on v.5 (I'm assuming this is the web app), so I have a learning curve, as I just installed it yesterday. Can someone help me? Tks. Huh

The web app doesn't supply smooth scrolling you need to change the date. Other clients work differently.

There should be a scroll bar at the bottom of the Guide ... https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/web...recordings

Are you in north America and using over the air EPG data? ... https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/Setup-EPG

As mentioned, in the web app you should see scroll bars top and bottom for scrolling through the current day. You can change the day by click the top left of the TV guide.

If you're not seeing the scroll bars, what web browser are you using, and are you on a PC or phone or tablet?

So sorry, this is very cryptic to me, I'm having trouble with my learning curve. I had some computer troubles today and still trying to resolve some of them.
I'm using a PC (Dell) and MS Edge.
But when I got back into the web app, the guide all had no listings. I clicked the EPG update, and it completed only up to 10 PM tonight on all channels, and up to 10 PM tomorrow on some channels. When I select Monday, it's all "no listings." Am I doing something wrong?

These are the scroll bars, to scroll through the currently selected day. To choose another day, you can click on that word 'Today' in the top left.

If the scrollbars aren't your problem, but instead you just don't have many listings - what EPG source are you using? The EPG source is listed next to each channel on the Settings->Channels screen. If you're using the DVB/ATSC EPG, please be aware that this broadcast guide in North America is next to useless - they typically only transmit 6-12 hours of listings for each channel. Most people in that part of the world use a Schedules Direct account for their listings.

1. Does this mean I no longer need epg collector?
2. Do I also need to install Kodi?

Please forgive me, I still don't get it. I've searched all over for a clear instruction about my situation, and I can't see the forest for the trees. I'm stuck.

I'm using local OTA in Texas, and 2 USB tuners (BDA 2875) on a desktop. I currently have DVB/ATSC as source.

3. Since I'm using v.5, do I need to check "Allow Remote Access"? I don't understand how this applies.
4. Can I use the original epg website accessed by zap2xml? or do I now have to pay for a lineup? I tried running the batch file to update the xml on my new system, and it didn't work.
5. I see how to add xmltv file location, but I don't see how to apply the zap2epg to update the file?
Tks

I get the wood and trees thing.  Start with the thought that V5 is much the same as V4 ... It is mostly just that the Settings has changed to a web browser app and the web browser app also provides recording scheduling, playback and Live TV functions.

V5 allows you to specify the name of an XMLTV file that contains EPG data.  The XMLTV file can be created by EPG Collector or Zap2xml or something else ... You tell NextPVR the source for the EPG data for each channel at Settings -> Channels ... https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/Setup-EPG ... You can use Auto Map to have NextPVR try and automatically find channels in your XMLTV file.

NextPVR will automatically update the EPG at the time specified in Settings -> Guide ... https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/Add...#epg-guide ... You can tell NextPVR to run updateepg.bat before it performs the EPG Update ... updateepg.bat can contain the EPG Collector or Zap2xml command that creates the XMLTV file.

In summary ... you can do EPG updates in V5 in the same way as you did in V4 ... the difference is that the Settings are now a bit different.

"Allow Remote Access" should be ticked if you want to watch TV or recordings when you away from home. Zap2xml is not affected by any of this and can be used the same in V5 as in V4. You update the Zap2xml XMLTV file in the same way that you did in V4.

Edit: You don't "tell NextPVR to run updateepg.bat" ... NextPVR will run the bat file automagically if it exists.

I probably made the wrong assumption my first post, your posted around 9pm so I figured you were just seeing 'till midnight. All your observations about ATSC OTA are typical which is why you should be using Schedules Direct or zap2xml. I personally don't recommend zap2xml simpply because it may be free for you but it costs more in our support time.

In the US you really should be using Schedules Direct. Not only does it give you 2-3 weeks worth of listings (like you'd get from zap2xml), but it also gives you better quality listings (flags like series/season premier/finale, new, season/epsiode numbering, etc.) and good quality (& much faster loading) images.
