Linux nextpvr-helper.deb installer

Version 1.2 of the deb installer has been released is required for the update that sub released today (Jan 2) It does include an online check to avoid corrupting the system. This check was added in later version of 1.1 if you are using the version with the sha2556 on the previous post.

Version  1.3 of the deb installer is available for download  that installs a new package required for NextPVR - libmediainfo.dev

Instead of a simple dpkg update you should run and apt update as explained in post #1 to install this new package.

Before reporting problems check the sha256 to make sure you have the correct version.

Version  1.4 of the deb installer is available for download  which now removes the beta and installs the stable version of NextPVR.  It also upgrades aspnetcore to a newer release.

sha256sum e9aac198fce52be86b2612317f95b7b5c3ceab15586623146496860801653b9d nextpvr-helper.deb

Before reporting problems check the sha256 to make sure you have the correct version.

No need, this file will fetch the current stable version, update dotnet if applicable, and it will also tell you if it needs an update.

What file fetches the current updated version?  Is there a repository setup where a person can pull down the updated package?  

I am on Version: 5.0.5.200518, and NextPVR tells me that 5.0.6.200614 is available for download.  What automatically downloads the updated version?

NextPVR doesn't offer an automatic service you need to manually run dpkg.... when you choose. You may be confusing this with the apt upgrade process that fetches updates from a repository.

So, I have nextpvr-helper v1.4 installed.  Do, I re-download nextpvr-helper and re-install?  Sorry, Martin, but I don't understand how just running dpkg will automatically update to version 5.0.6.

You don't need to re-download if you have it use it and it will download and install the current version using the built in scripts. This is not a support thread, please post any additional questions in the support forum if it doesn't work.

I am a Newbee and having trouble verifying that I am downloading the latest NPVR files. Using Linux I ran the command: "curl -k https://nextpvr.com/nextpvr-helper.deb -O". The "-k" option was necessary. The sha256sum is: e9aac198fce52be86b2612317f95b7b5c3ceab15586623146496860801653b9d nextpvr-helper.deb. I have repeated the download several times, but always get the same checksum, so it may be that the latest file is kept recent on the web. I have found checksums published in the Forums posted at various dates, but none match the one I have downloaded. How can I determine that I am downloading the latest file, and what is the latest file and its checksum?

Also, I have downloaded "NPVR.zip", about 120MB. It is loaded with Windows ".dll" files (not Linux library filenames) Its sha256sum is: 4ea75e578e496cdd784c92418171ea620100ec3320e737ad44941ad0ddbf8813 NPVR.zip. Is the the correct and latest v5 NPVR.zip for installing in a Linux system? Tnx.
