Show titles of some channels are still in English: And the descriptions of some shows contain strange characters (partially in some shows, completely in some other) as seen in image below (left): I thought it was because of bad signal initially. But repeated emptying EPG and scanning for a few times and the above 2 observations remain. EPG from other programs (e.g. DVBViewer as shown in right of the second image above, or Media Portal 2) are normal using the same environment.

The file you supplied had Jade, ViuTVsix and ViuTV. If you can identify some specific shows from these channels that you're sure should have Chinese names, I'll look at those specifically.

Here's the ts capture of all frequencies available and the EPG export from DVB Viewer for reference: Hopefully the captures should cover all the channels. As far as I can tell from the EPG export, most of the show titles are in Chinese.

I am located in Hong Kong and therefore, the situation for me is the same. I have also set the system wide environment variable to the value "eng" and set the appropriate entry in config.xml to "eng", yet I the programme info when viewing TV in a browser, is in Chinese. In Kodi, it is also in Chinese but due to non Unicode handling, Kodi displays the CHinese characters as square blocks. I too, would like everything to be in English. Has this ever been resolved?

You are going to need to provide the a link to a full transport stream capture as described here https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid545755
Also for the Kodi issue could you provide a link to your npvr.db3 I'd like to see what the issue is. Martin

The transport capture file can be downloaded from https://1drv.ms/v/s!Aqf4UNufHr0HgfQWuoxX...A?e=lZ4kk6 and the nvpr.db3 file can be downloaded from https://1drv.ms/u/s!Aqf4UNufHr0HgfQVwIpc...w?e=es6NFq

As the EPG is now English, Kodi doesn't show square blocks in place of Chinese characters.

Thanks for the update. I do have the file though and found the Kodi limitation, the xml parser we use only supports UTF-8 so the double byte characters are throwing it off.

I am seeing Chinese again in the programme description. I think it is TV programme specific. Certain broadcasts will give me the programme info in English and others in Chinese. I'll send another link to a ts stream later, when I see another TV programme where the programme info is showing in Chinese. Understand about UTF-8. Kodi (or the plugin) should really support all XML encoding formats. |
