I've made several other tests :
- Tried LCD smartie 5.3 and 5.3.2(beta)
- Running LCD smartie from the desktop and other locations
- Copy/paste screen config exactly as described to avoid spelling error (it seems it was already correct)
- Added an extra "!" at the end of screen 1, "?" for screen 2 and "+" for screen 3 (all extra letters come up and screens are really rotating)
- Removed the SmartiePlugin.dll from the LCD smartie directory (I have an error saying that plugin can't be load, as far as i know this is normal)

but i can't solve my problem. The only difference is that my LCD is a serial 16*2 LCD and you guys are using a VFD (usb?). I thought that while LCD smartie can access/write on the LCD display, gbpvr could do it too but it seems it's not true.

Another last idea (even a silly one) ?

No, it is not normal to have that error. If Smartie can't load the plugin then the gbpvr info definately will not display.


The iMON VFD is USB, but don't know if the interface type affects the plugin.

This is the normal behavior, because I REMOVE the DLL to make a test. So dll is not in Smartie's plugin directory but screens still call it $dll(SmartiePlugin.dll....). In this way, i have the error, replacing the dll in the good place remove the error ;-)

I have had lots of fun getting this plug in to work too
I can get the smartie lcd and IMON vfd working together but all I get is "can not load plug-in" running gbpvr.
how do you get the gbpvr common utilities, the only place I see it is on the old wiki site, and it asks for a password to download it.

Hi everybody,

i've just tested the plugin and wondering how good it worked. Great job.

But i also ran into some troubles. I think someone already posted about the external exception, but maybe it helps when i discribe what i've found.

The Probelm seems to occure when a video file is played (tried with all video plugins i've found). When the data (running lenght and so on) are read Smartie shows the external exception and my gbpvr stops doing anything at least with the newest version of gbpvr from today.
I'm quite sure the problem appears when the file properties are read, because when i use myVideos and the file properties don't have to be read, because they are in the database, the file can be played. Oh not to forget there still is the external exception but at least gbpvr won't crash.

So i would be glad if there was a fixed version because at the moment i can use the plugin, because i have to decide videos or LCD. And actually i want both. By the way Live TV (Preview Mode) is not affected at all, but i did not test what will happen in timeshift mode.

I've just upgraded to gbpvr v0.94.12 and have got the plugin working correctly.

You need to make sure the MyVideos plugin has "show info on ok" ticked, and if it was previously unticked then you will need to "scan" each video to update the database, then it all works.

Also my thanks to SUB who has now got the TV channel names outputing to this plugin in Live Preview mode.

No luck for me, it still will only play the videos which are already in the database, for all other gbpvr will crash. And for the videos that are working i will always get "dll: External exception E0434F4D" on the LCD.

Maybe i will try to uninstall myVideos, because even in the VideoLibrary it will only play (with the external exception) the videos which are in the myVideos database and will crash on all the others.

I've noticed that the plugin stops my remote control from working on DVD playback (on both the gbpvr native DVD plugin and MyVideos DVD playback).

I'm using the Cyberlink remote with gbpvr configured to "MCE remote". If you remove the GbpvrSmartie plugin dll file then the remote works on DVD playback, but putiing the dll back in causes the remote to again not work on DVD playback.
