I am currently on Windows 7 NPVR v4.25 and I am going to migrate to Linux v5.x.  Once upon a time, I read a thread that had some SQL to export the current recordings and setting out of the database, and then to import everything back into the new database.  However, I can no longer find that thread.  Can someone please post a link?

Thanks

In V4 ... There is a button to Export Recordings ... http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?....Recording
In V5 ... There is a button to Import Recordings ... https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/Add...g-defaults

But ... the path to the recording file (for "Ready" recordings) is in the export and will need to be manipulated for Linux.

Great.  Thanks for the information.

Is there anything else that I should keep or save off for the migration?

Thanks

NextPVR stores everything in npvr.db3 and config.xml ... Save those two files and you should be good ... Note that V4 plugins might have their own config files.

To go from Windows to linux do not copy any files the setting for tuners and file locations will be different.

I do have a utility that will copy recordings from your Windows npvr.db3 file to linux npvr.db3 if the file are found. It is only lightlyt tested though.

Yeah, best to not copy the npvr.db3 or config.xml if you're migrating from Windows to Linux. Set it up again on the new platform, and use one of the approaches mentioned above to reimport your existing recordings.

I would be interested in this utility. I have many shows recorded in Windows v4 that I would like to see in Linux v5. They are all under the same recordings folder. I also changed from cable to OTA, so the channels that the v4 files were recorded from do not exist in my v5 channels. Would that present a problem?

Do you have the v4 database? That allows the fastest method? If not do your files include the XML files?

Channel changes aren't an issue.

Yes. I still have all the v4 files and can boot into Windows if necessary.

Just the database is fine. I haven't tested it for a while so I'll give you more info tomorrow.
