nah it will ignore all the quicktime videos. start a random slideshow (in a simple folder with no sub folders) and see if that works. if it doesnt try it again, but push the pause button (switching to normal fullscreen mode) and try and navigate thru the images that way.

also can someone else with a mvp try this out (i dont have one, and no way to test for it).

tested around and find it a very useful and nice plugin....

two things: there is a missing Task-Delete composite image in the skin.xml in the mypictures - folder. the plugin crashes. just copy one of the other taskimages and rename it :-)

second thing: when transitions are active and i am in preview mode the plugin doesn't show me the big picture when a transition to the right is made. difficult to explain, i'll try:

let's say, i have 6 pictures in a folder and i am in preview mode. i see 4 pictures. i move to the last picture on the right (the 4th) and i can see the large preview. pressing right moves on to the 5th picture with a transition but the large preview is blank. going back for one picture (now without transition) and reselecting the 5th picture brings the preview back.

hope, that was clear ;-)

This did not work.

This had no effect. It looks to me that the default is fullscreen mode for the MVP. All the versions of MyPictures that I've used have defaulted this way.

No problem here. I was able to use both the FF button on the remote and the skip button. Each button depress resulted in the pic changing.

sorry for the delayed response reven... here's a quick rundown of what I have running here...

Quote:cpu: HP AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Windows XP Home Edition SP2
memory: 1 GB PC3200 DDR SDRAM
gbpvr hardrive: 200 GB SATA 7200 RPM - Maxtor
2nd harddrive: 250 GB SATA 7200 RPM - Seagate
capture card: Hauppauge PVR 150
video card: NVIDIA Geforce 6600 256MB DDR PCI-Express [dual screen mode monitor+TV Out]

One of my four digital image directories is 3.5 GB in size containing approximately 30 subfolders of high res images, anywhere from 1 to 3 mb per image.

Also in those folders are many resized low resolution copies of originals sizing around 100 kb or so for email and webshots.

It's been a great thing for me, to be able to show off this plugin to others, displaying slideshows of our images on the family room tv. Transitions in the menu are slick, and the fade transitions between images is smooth. I use the filelist menu mostly.

Only 2 minor glitches i have noticed...

1. GBPVR's screensaver comes on, while viewing a slideshow in random mode, not sure if i missed a setting or not, but all i can think of is to maybe disable the screensaver. hehe

2. While in random screensaver mode... Some images load, and quickly disappear, not staying for the 4 second interval. Not sure if this has anything to do, with loading a Hi and Lo res images in sequence. Think i remember seeing a discussion somewhere on this problem here on the forums...

Other than that, It's been a great piece of work, reven... thx Smile

.

I've played a around with this option some more. In random mode, it doesn't matter which button on the remote I press (channel +, channel -, FF, RW, skip, replay) the pic changes. When the channel - and replay button were press a new pic was displayed. For no good reason I guess I expected the previous pic to be displayed. One thing I did notice though is that no matter which button I press, if the pic display time has not yet elapsed (4 seconds) the pic does not change. The first button depress after the display time elapses changes the pic.

In normal slideshow mode, which works as expected. Pressing any of the above listed buttons has no effect at any time. The slide show progresses along changing pics after the display time elapses.

Is there any value in uninstalling the plugin and then reinstalling? If so, what steps should I take to perform the plugin uninstall?

i tested this and looked at the code (which in theory should disable the screensaver) and the screensaver never came on. start a random slideshow, open up the gbpvr.exe.log file (it a editor that can detect if the file has been changed and display them as they happen, i suggest textpad), and see where/if the "ScreenSaverDisabled" "ScreenSavernEnabled" appear (at the bottom). they names might be wrong, but something about disabling/enabling the screensaver.

Quote:2. While in random screensaver mode... Some images load, and quickly disappear, not staying for the 4 second interval. Not sure if this has anything to do, with loading a Hi and Lo res images in sequence. Think i remember seeing a discussion somewhere on this problem here on the forums...
this could be your machine and the size of your pictures.... (dots mean i might be wrong), try increasing the slideshow interval (i think i made it so when the transistion takes place, the timer stops, so if the slideshow interval is 4 seconds, and it takes 5 seconds to load the picture, it should still wait 4 seconds after loading before loading the next, and not -1 second (yes that can happen, computers are funny)).

im pretty sure the slideshow is done that way, might not be tru about the random feature thou, ill have to check, but pretty sure that is (if im right then its not the interval, its errrr blame it on m$).

NOTE : I found a bug with the popup menu and "random", its doesnt show up, so no music selection, it just takes you to the main menu, ill fix this in the next release, and may add a "Music" button, which just brings up the "music playlists" (might be more user friendly... im doing a human computer interaction course, gets you thinking about this kind of crap....).

Thanks for your time reven,

Setting the interval back to 5 seconds or more, seems to be perfect as none of the images get skipped through prematurely. Thx Smile

I was incorrect in my previous post, Its in "Slideshow" when the screensaver activates, not in "Random" as I had mentioned. Please forgive me, as I know your time is valuable.

Under Slideshow Mode, GBPVR screensaver comes on... here is a portion from the log.

Quote:9/19/2005 2:21:46 PM.531 VERBOSE [2] DisableScreenSaver()

at MyPicturesPlugin.Controls.SlideShow.Draw(Image compositeScreenImage, Hashtable clickableRegions, Boolean focus, Boolean& requiresMoreRendering)

Those Object references messages above appear throughout the log.

Now, under Random Slideshow, It shows Screensaver as disabled, shown in the GBPVR.exe.log and does not interfere with the Random Slideshow.

and then this appears continuosly after listing the found images in the directory...

at MyPicturesPlugin.Controls.FullScreen.DrawMusicInfo(Image& compositeScreenImage)
at MyPicturesPlugin.Controls.Random.Draw(Image compositeScreenImage, Hashtable clickableRegions, Boolean focus, Boolean& requiresMoreRendering)

Have tested this a few times now, in a directory containing approx 408 images, and the screensaver activates while in Slideshow mode only.

Thx for your time reven, much appreciated. Smile
