I recently changed the PIN code for local device login. When I went to view the guide using the web app on a local Windows laptop, all I got was the top part of the index page and then nothing. Empty.

I had last logged on with the laptop and checked the "Remember Me" box and expected a message this saying the login failed due to the PIN code change. Nothing. I could find no way to logout and change the laptop's PIN code. I ended up changing the server PIN code to 0000 then returning to the laptop and logging out. Then I went back to the server and restored the PIN I needed for remote access. The local laptop web app now presented the login page.

Is there a better way to allow server PIN code changes without having to log out of clients which had previously checked the "Remember Me" checkbox?

Security isn't meant to be easy. If you are going to be regularly changing things don't click "remember me".

Changing PIN codes is not a regular thing and I did it because I couldn't remember what it was. The server web app does not display the PIN code. I was hoping for the app to signal the login failed and force a logout or something. Maybe disable remember me and present a new login screen?

The 'remember me' functionality shouldn't care if you changed the pin number. It's not using the pin number.

What if he actually changed the password, would that cause any difficulties with the saved login?

No, it shouldn't do. It's just a permanent sid that is stored in the config.xml, and changing the pin/password isn't going to invalidate that.
