Unhandled exception - couldn't load Unmanaged.dll

Hi,

Yesterday, I finally took the plunge and tried the release version of NPVR5 on an freshly built PC with a freshly installed version of W10.  The web client works fine, but when starting the Windows client, I get the following message:

"unhandled exception has occurred in a component of your application ...  Could not load file or assembly "unmanaged.dll" or one of its dependencies ..."

What am I doing wrong?

Graham, thanks, but I had already read that, I had already installed those files before posting. But even so, that link/post refers to a different type of error.

You need to uploads your logs and also if you can add more details from the event viewer.

Just an FYI/update on this.

My NextPVR was working fine.

I decided to put in an old GTX760 into the server for transcoding with Jellyfin.
I removed the GPU as it wasn't working out as good as expected.

I'm not sure when, but at some point between installing the GPU and removing it, NPVR started failing over with this error.

The only notification it'd failed to work was a few missed recordings, and upon checking in the devices area, 'unavailable' next to the tuners.

Needless to say, I went around the houses trying to figure out why. Including a system roll-back.



Funnily (or not) I thought I'd tried this fix before re-installing nextpvr... but I'd been installing it on my desktop machine... forgetting to copy the link into my remote connection screen haha! Ah balls.



Any way, clearly this 'problem' isn't always a problem, but can become a problem.

My install had never needed this, until I put a GPU in and out of the machine, and then Windows has clearly changed something and made NextPVR need this MS .net thingy (maybe the GPU driver (nvidia GTX760) invoked a DX download/update/install?)


Any way, maybe it's useful for others to know that this fault can occur due to hardware changes on the server machine.

It sounds like maybe the nvidia uninstaller removed the Microsoft runtime.
